Following their receipt of the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award at the 2009 Brit Awards, Pet Shop Boys return in glorious fashion with their highly anticipated tenth studio album, Yes. Offering a timely reminder of the influence that the dance pioneers have had on popular music, this modern and sumptuous record packs a punch, combining the innovators established synthpop sound with elements of eccentric excellence and surprising twists.
Since the release of their 1986 multiplatinum debut Please, the Pet Shop Boys have continuously delivered buoyantly melodic pop confections that are cheeky, smart, and utterly danceable. Releasing in excess of fifty singles including classic anthems 'Go West' and 'It's A Sin', the postmodern ironists have constantly adapted their recognisable formula to present innovative sounds that scream to be listened to and are always one step ahead of their contemporaries. Yes is no exception to the rule. Opening with upcoming single 'Love etc.' the album kicks off with all the pitch-bending synth-filled electro-pop grandeur we have come to expect from the pioneering duo. Rising melodically into erupting chants, the track is undeniably catchy and demonstrates that the Pet Shop Boys are true masters of delivering a poignant power chorus. Although their distinct formula is present throughout the remainder of the tracks, most recognisably on the soaring epics 'All Over The World' and 'The Way It Used To Be', it is the new techniques and appearances from prolific contributors that revive their sound and make this album so distinctive. By layering new elements into the Pet Shop Boys established techno style, soundscapes have been created that draw focus and expand the depth and vigour of Neil Tennant's worldly-wise lyrics. The most notable sound input comes in equal measure from The Last Shadow Puppets arranger Owen Pallett and The Smiths former guitarist Johnny Marr. With significant guitar chords, vicious violin lines, and hefty drum patterns, the collaborators add a western feel to the 60s inspired 'Beautiful People' and the erupting anthem 'Legacy', to close the album in grandiose style.
The Pet Shop Boys have always been pioneers in what they do: delivering electronic bursts that demand attention and contain a message. With Yes, however, the duo have branched even further out of their ever expanding genre. By working intensively with Girls Aloud's production team Xenomania, the Pet Shop Boys have experimented with modern pop music techniques and produced an eclectic sounding album that will delight listeners of all music genres with its future-altering style.

A must buy for all Pet Shop boys fans, one of the best CD's they have ever made... Buy it now!
This CD is brilliant, I can't stop listening to it!! Although I think all the songs are great, my favourites would have to be Love etc, All over the world and Pandemonium. If you have enjoyed previous PSB albums, this one will not disappoint and definitely should be in your collection!!
While the first track, Love etc., is not the most fabulous of tracks, but the other ten, especially All Over The World, Beautiful People, and The Way It Used To Be, are the kind of tracks that we've all come to love and expect from the Pet Shop Boys.
The "etc." portion of this album set consists of six dubs and an extra track, and they do not disappoint either.
If you're a PSB fan, this is a must-have.
An amazing pet shop boys album, the dubs are brilliant.GET IT BOUGHT NOW!!!
