Play.com Review
With 2 smash-hit singles already under her belt, 18-year old singer-songwriter sensation Pixie Lott releases her hugely anticipated first album, Turn It Up. 4 years in the making, the soulful, sassy sounds of the Bromley-born starlet's debut are set make it one of the most talked about albums of the year.
A clear indication of the pure pop joy that is to follow, 'Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)' is a stunning opening track - with a stomping groove and hooks to die for, it's little surprise the single went straight to number one. The brass-led 'Boys And Girls' is another chart topper, and such is the ease in which strong melodies are formed on Turn It Up there's no reason why the other 10 tracks couldn't follow suit. 'The Way The World Works' oozes with confidence, highlighting Lott's sweet, soulful vocals, which clearly indicates the Essex teenager would have been equally comfortable fronting a Motown band in the 1960s. Drawing out optimism from late-teen heartbreak, 'My Love' and 'Nothing Compares' are lyrically beautiful, suggesting that Lott has the potential to become a spokeswoman for her generation. 'Turn It Up' offers a snazzy, urban R&B interlude, but the highlight comes courtesy of new single 'Cry Me Out'. A masterclass in popular songwriting, 'Cry Me Out' is everything a ballad should be - emotionally enlightening, sensitive and musically powerful, the resulting four minutes border on genius. 'Hold Me In Your Arms' concludes the album on a positive note, a fitting end to a stunning debut.
There's no denying the all-star list of producers, ranging from Fraser T. Smith (James Morrison/Craig David) and Phil Thornally (The Cure/The Thompson Twins), working on Pixie Lott's first long-player have contributed greatly to create this flawless album. However, with a distinctive, powerful voice beyond her years, and having co-written 10 out of the 12 tracks on Turn It Up, there is no doubt Pixie Lott is on the fast track to major worldwide stardom.

lool cunning stuff there MiamiPeachPrincess - "Love it a Lott". Niice!
Heard this album on Spotify, have to say she is pretty good. I shall be buying this album at some point on Play. Only just a few songs are not to my liking. For me the best song on this album is 'Nothing Compares'.
Saw her on the Xfactor as a guest judge and thought she done a very good job of being a judge. It's nice to see she isn't one of those that just wants to say nice things to every contestants, and not afraid to say No just to win the audience over, like that Louie Walsh.
Im a rocker and not into this sort of music but my mate lent me this album....Wow! i really enjoy this album and considering its not my sort of thing, this is good
Having bought this liking a couple of her tracks I was really suprised how good this album was! Every track is good on it - not like some where there is always one or two tracks that arnt really up to much! Well Done Pixie!! Lovin your work!!! Cant wait for the next album! Oh cant stop singing Jack to myself - its brilliant!!!
