I agree with the above review, this CD is a dip in form all cds have quite a few re-hashed oldies , some rubbish re-mixes and spikes in flow, no smooth edges, not what you would expect from past quality output and sourcing from MD. The first 6 songs on CD1 are best, some tracks belong on less than impressive compilations aimed at boy racer types, and I think have been dug out of the early 90's, and the QAF soundtrack. I think best to have kept to 2 cds, any more and QC goes out the window, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come or is it the credit crunch biting in the A&R and sourcing depts of such labels, HK being the other, as their recent offering much the same.
A truly stunning album which takes you through every angle of house music from soulful house, funky disco house, electro house and progressive house.
CD3 is a gem and well worth the £12 on its own, it includes the massive Ercola ft. Daniella - Every Word, Chris Lake ft. Nastala - If You Knew and DC ft. Sam Obernik - I Don't Love You to name a few.
Anyone who is thinking of purchasing this, do it you wont regret it at all. If your unsure just type in Fierce Disco 3 into youtube, the makers of this CD have put together a little clip of what to expect on the album.
The only gripe I have and it only a tiny one and that's the inclusion of a very poor cover of Chris Brown's Forever as noted by the other review on here. Even still that isn't enough to take 5 stars off my rating.
Great CD, great tracks!
Fierce Angel have a reputation for quality compilations, with excellent track listings and cutting edge design work. Having enjoyed the previous two 'Fierce Disco' collections I had high expectations for Fierce Disco III. On the whole, it delivers. Highlights include the Freemason's 'If' and LOL with 'Love Leaves No Scar' - both tracks typifying the kind of soulful, life-affirming disco / house that make these albums stand out from the crowd. There are many others like this. However, maybe it's my age but even after repeated listens I still found several tracks lacking in melody and difficult to listen to all the way through. What may well sound great in a club can sound horribly tuneless when played on a home stereo. Additionally, a worrying new trend of including some tinny sounding cover versions doesn't bode well for future releases (lowlights include a very poor cover of Chris Brown's 'Forever' and a pointless new version of Blue Pearl's 'Naked In The Rain'). Fingers crossed that Fierce Disco IV brings the focus firmly back to soulful funky disco / house and leaves the 'party bangers' and cheap covers to all the inferior collections out there.
