The Bachelor

I was really impressed with this new album from Wolf. I only recently became aware of his music and after having loved 'The Magic Position' decided I'd give this a go, and I am so glad I did.
The album flows brilliantly, with emotional beats and deep, thought provoking lyrics throughout. The music style is definetly unusual but this is part of why it works so well. The frequency of the violin mixed with more electronic sounds is a delight.
'Kriegspiel' is a haunting opener,'The Bachelor' is brilliant and so is 'Damaris', I also loved the thought provoking and mesmerising 'Vulture' and poignant 'Battle', the whole album is great. I was also surprised to hear snippets of dialogue from, I think, Tilda Swinton!
I found this album very deep and romantic and addictive to listen to. I would compare it to one of my favourite, and one of the best albums of all time, 'Hounds of Love' by Kate Bush. Wolf is a truly interesting and unusual artist who has delivered a magnificent album here, and at this price, you have absolutely nothing to lose!

This was the first time I'd ever heard Patrick Wolf's music and I must say, I'm addicted to it. His kind of music is not something I'd generally go for, if I'm honest, but I was blown away and kicking myself that I'd never heard him before. This album is truly beautiful with tracks such as 'Hard Times,' 'Damaris,' 'Vulture' and 'Battle' being personal favourites. The balance of emotion, classical music and catchy lyrics is perfect here. I'd sincerely recommend this.

As with my previous review,once again id never heard of this guy..very different to what ive heard before, but this guy has got talent...im trying to get into as many different genres as possible and am so glad i tried this..im no expert when it comes to describing individual sounds but musically its very thunderous and with the volume turned up it sounds like a masterpiece...if youre looking for something different ....buy it ..im now going to buy all the previous albums because its that good.
