A bit more mainstream than Manson's previous albums but doesn't mean it's bad, i would recommend the songs Running To The Edge Of The World, Blank And White,Arma-goddamn-motherf"*kin-geddon and my fav Leave A Scar.

 Great album

I dont agree with people who moan about this album, I like all the MM albums and some are better than others, but still this is a very fun album if you like goth music, its not a heavy metal album in the sense that you would compare it to Strapping Young Lad or other bands of that ilk, but this is a gothic rock album, so its all about what you like.

Personally I love straight up heavy metal like Disturbed and Iron Monkey etc, but I also love gothic rock / metal such as Paradise Lost and of course Marilyn Manson, you get what you expect when you buy this album, its Brian Warner moaning with his drawl against the depressing crash of Twiggy etc.......I think its awesome!

Each to their own!

 the decline of a legend?

I had high hopes after the poor previous album but this is just more of the same I'm afraid. The track 'Wow' held me for a while but ultimately it is just very samey.
Also I have seen elsewhere reviews are saying this is a return to Mechanical Animals glam-rock sound - nothing can be further from the truth i'm afraid.
Fans will buy it (i did, lol) but it will never win anyone new.

I have been a fan of Marilyn Manson since Smells like children and after Eat me Drink me i thought Manson had lost his touch but this album proves me dead wrong. The antichrist is back!

Ok, this album will not be remembered as one of his best, unfortunately. BUT, that doesn't mean that it shouldn't!. There are some very good tracks in this cd, more than the last. The heavy sound is back, probably with the return of Twiggy Ramierez, yet it doesn't seem heavy for the sake of just being heavy. The guitar and bass bump instead of pound, and this makes the music flow brilliantly! Also, the introductions of harmonisation and vocalisation are impressive, and surprised me as i truly thought that Manson could no longer sing. Definitely worth a purchase.

Good album...but not what we were promised

Its generally a great album with very powerful moments. But Manson described the album in its early stages as 'violent' and 'ruthless'...sadly this isn't the case.

We need something a little faster and heavier Mazza! \m/

 Better than expected

After Marilyn Mansons long anticipated seventh studio album, I can't honestly say it paid off that well...

If you're comparing this with his previous albums, you'll be quite disappointed. He's dealing with more personal issues here, which include suicide, death and affairs so this isn't really the best album to be playing around your parents.

The band to me seemed a bit "Western themed", its unusual for Manson but I found their was something different in each of his albums that's why it has a likable quality.

Devour, Leave a scar, Pretty as a ($), Four Rustic Horses, Arma-Geddon & WOW are the best tracks on the album, other than that they sound pretty similar and croaky...

If you enjoyed Mechanical Animals & The Golden Age of Grotesque, you'll love this one. For any fan this is obviously a must-have, but this is just to put you in the picture :-p

(really) good times have gone for good

Been a fan since I was introduced to him in high school with the release of Smells Like Children and couldn't get the cover of Sweet Dreams out of my head (raised on the Eurthymics)

We all know his best work is Antichrist, followed by Holywood and then the rest fight it out between themselves. Unofortunately this album doesn't hit the hype i'd heard - I think it really says a lot when the best song on this album and the last (Eat me, Drink me) is a slow one.

Don't get me wrong...... this is album is decent (hence the 3 stars) but there are no stand-out Manson heavy classics, hell it seems as though the man has evolved and who can blame him after 15 years. It is a good listen and the bonus disc is a good addition with the alternate versions.

This album is better than Eat me, Drink me but not as good as T.G.A.O.G and nowhere near as good as Mechanical Animals which again, I think, makes one hell of a statement.

Thankyou Marilyn for the company over the past decade and a half, I will always buy your albums but with not the urgency as there once was
