I saw this group perform two of their songs on Later with Jools Holland and downloaded the album the next morning. This is the freshest and most original band I have heard in a very long time (and I am very old!!). The lead singer's voice is just amazing, both singing live and on the album. The impression that I get about the group when listening to their music is that they are all concentrating very hard on playing their instruments together as a group - I mean that as a compliment - it comes across as a really living band rather than one that has been put together in a studio somewhere. Here's to the Mummers and I hope a second album follows soon!

I buy a lot of music, and it's not often that a new CD release really impresses on the first listen, but this debut by The Mummers definitely falls into that category. Having seen them in Jools Holland and been suitably impressed, I bought the album, and it is simply stunning. Every track is superb, with strong melodies, lovely vocals, and wonderful string arrangements. I defy anyone not to enjoy this album. Highly, highly recommended. Please buy it - you will not be disappointed!
