I am sure everyone knows that this was recorded after Let it be but released before. This has to be the album I always play it has stood the test of time and by now George Harrision was also becoming a great writier, along with lennon and McCartney. Something, Come Together and here comes the sun are all here and still stand up to day. McCartney came into his own with the great Medley on what was side two, ending with the End, where Ringo does his only drum solo on any Beatles recording. No doubt many will moan about the re issue of the beatles CD's remarstered, if so don't buy them. If like me feel the 22 year old original realsed at a time when CD's were still a knew format then you will welcome the re done versions. Remember other artists such as the Stones, Bowie, Genesis have re realesed there back catalogue three times, the Beatles have at least waited till technolagy has moved on a lot. having heard a few tracks from the white album I am sure no one will be dissapointed
one of the best album's i have got the onley thing i don't like is on track 6(i want you she's so heavy) is that in the last 50 sec ther is tape hiss and it is very bad but this album is still a must have and a very good price
I remember getting this album way back in the mid 70s and being stunned by the range of material on it and the sheer quality of the production sound. On this remaster, I get the same feeling, so great job done on the remaster. The album does have some 'couldn't they have left that off?' moments - am I the only person who finds 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' really irritating? Also, 'Octopuses Garden' is one I always skipped - but you can't argue with an album that has such a stunning playout in the extended medley on what used to be side two. And not forgetting George Harrison's finest songs: 'Something' and 'Here Comes The Sun'...
For a band in the throes of a break up and a lot of acrimony at the time, 'Abbey Road' is an amazing final swansong from the greatest pop group there ever was (and as the years go by it is looking likely that nobody will ever come close to The Beatles)
In five hundred years' time, people will still be marvelling over the Beatles. Have no doubt!
