Pyromania (Deluxe Edition) (2CD)

The 2nd disc is a live album with the greatest band in the world on top of their game and demonstrates why fans miss Steve Clark so much. I couldnt believe the go get-em attitude they had before their run of unbelievable bad luck on the Hysteria album. Think Def Leppard with a slight punk fast paced attitude to playing their music. Brilliant, just brilliant. Highly recommended. 5 Stars no question.

Fantastic!! Had this album on tape for over 20 years and were goin to get it on cd when i found out this was bein released. How glad im i i waited for the record on its own was superb especially after havin it on tape but its the live recording from LA in 83 that is the icing on the cake. MY first guitar hero Steve Clark is loud and pround and phil collen is super fast its a blindin concert and the sound is top notch. Just wish i could have watched them in this era and that a dvd could be released of this concert, but we are never happy are we!!! WELL worth every penny and a great xmas prezzie.

Pyromania was a tough choice for a heavy metal fan like me in the beginning of the 80's. NWOBHM was big then. I loved the first Def Lep LP. The second was OK, but quite, eh, commercial, and then, in 1983, came thrash and speed metal... It was a crime to admit that Pyromania was actually brilliant; catchy, but very powerfull. Well, those drums sounded like 100% plastic.

On this remastered version the drums still sound like plastic, but after all, this isn't a remixed version. Remastering is excellent: clear, energetic, wide range of dynamics and no digital distortion at all, loudness war is forgotten here. This sounds million times better than the old CD version, although I still think Japanese vinyl LP has the best sound of them all.

The gem - or the other gem - in this Deluxe Edition is the second CD, a live concert recorded in '83. The band is red, hot and kickin'. Wonderful sound quality and what a set list! Material is from their first 3 albums plus a CCR cover with Brian May as a guest guitarist.

A fantastic package.

When this re-issue came out I hadn't got round to buying the album yet so I thought I might as well get this version. I'm so glad I did: one, it fits in my CD rack where I'd been scared it wouldn't and two, the second disc is a fantastic live performance. I can't get over how great Joe sounds! Seriously, if you already have the album, get it for the bonus disc. It's worth it.
