 Ah the curse of Roadrunner...

It was probably a given that Killswitch were going to go in a different direction to try and shake that "metalcore" stamp. And when it works it really really works but unfortunately there are a few new things that don't work so well. Opener "Never Again" is a step in the aggressive direction for KsE and it is brilliant along with intense. "Starting Over" is classic Killswitch with awesome dual guitars and epic chorus. Track 3, "The Forgotten" is excellent and starts off sounding like early Metallica. The rest of the album is hit and miss, "The Return" is a bit dysmal and plods along with not much happening apart from some new vocal styles from Howard Jones. A lot of the tracks feel that there is something missing, or could have done with an extra minute or two. Having said this, it is still a step in the right direction for a band that are evolving into something spectacular. Brilliantly executed, mental drums along with awesome guitars and huge vocals make this a cd for any metalhead and indeed anyone curious for something different. Comparing it to the other Killswitch CDs, it doesn't really come close...The DVD is a pretty disappointing affair with a mildly amusing 25 minutes of trademark lunacy and laid back attitudes. The CD case says it is over 30 minutes of backstage and studio footage etc etc so unless I got the wrong DVD, I got 25 minutes of the band sitting on the bus answering fairly routine questions amongst some funny comments from Adam D, Not too impressed with the DVD Roadrunner, a bit of a jip to be honest, can't really say I will watch it again. Music - awesome! 8/10 DVD - poor 3/10

 Killswitch Engage!

I've loved Killswitch Engage for many years now and they always amaze me. From the wizzing guitars and Howard Jones' amazing vocals, they have everything I love about a rock band.
When I first heard the album via a stream on the band's official MySpace, I fell in love with the album. When I first heard Starting Over, I couldn't wait for the album and it was worth the wait. Now that I finally have my hands on the album, I've been listening to it on repeat. A Light In A Darkened World, for me, is the best song on the album. Infact, I had goosebumps when I first heard it on MySpace. The vocals are spot on, and the music is just amazing. Definitely a great song to sing along to, like most Killswitch Engage songs anyway which they are quite
famous for (A Bid Farewell, Darkness Falls, The End Of Heartheart, Rose Of Sharyn all spring to mind about being a great rock song to sing along to!).
After their sizzling performance at Download Festival, they still definitely know how to rock HARD. This album is a must!
The DVD is also pretty interesting too. If like me, you like behind the scenes of making an album, it's pretty nifty!

 An awesome display of power

At the download festival this year I heard them premier a few new songs which sounded awesome live but upon buying the album today it shreded my ears. Anyone who has liked a previous Killswith album will not be disapointed. Get the special edition for the studio footage on the dvd.

Killswitch have taken their unique sound up to another level, from my first listen i was cranking the volume up with every track! thrashy, melodic, crisp riffs and drumming, what else do you need...?

 Killswitch is back!

At the first listen I was kinda dissapointed, but after a few times, I started love it. Not one metal band stays with their original sound through their whole career. I think this type of change is good, they have made progress, love their new sound.... !! Reckoning is the best:)
