Love this album, amazing voice, great lyrics. Favourite tracks are the haunting 'Do you want the truth or something beautiful?' , 'Stone Cold Sober' and 'Upside Down'. But the rest of the tracks are brilliant too. This will be having a permanent place on my most listened to album stack.
Only a month into 2010 but I think it will be a hard one to beat for my 'Favourite Album of the year'. If you are looking for something a little different...buy it!
The truth is Paloma Faith has a beautiful, unique voice. She is a breath of fresh air. I first saw her on Jonathon Ross and thouhgt I would buy the album, money well spent, beautiful voice, musical compositions are a delight and a variety of tracks to suit all. Up tempo track "upside down" is very catchy. My 3 year old loves it too, so it has to be good!!.
Paloma Faith's debut is stylistically very similar to Amy Winehouse and Duffy and fans of those should instantly find this album likeable. It's a well written, well sung album that at times can come over as a little too over produced although not enough to detract from the experience of listening to the album. Paloma Faith's voice is consistent through-out and really comes into it's own on the playful 'Upside Down' and the slower, more soulful second single 'New York'. What sets her apart from the likes of Duffy and Adele is her ability to portray the emotion that the songs demand while never giving it too much. A stunning debut album and one which bodes very well for the future.
Paloma Faith - what a voice! Album is excellent - my favourite tracks at the moment are probably Broken Doll, Romance Is Dead and Upside Down, but the whole album is amazing. Yes, she does have some resemblances to Amy Winehouse but not overly so - she's got her own unique style. I first heard of Paloma when hearing New York and Stone Cold Sober - still great songs off the album. I've been listening to this album on repeat recently - I can't get enough! Paloma seems like a very nice down-to-earth girl too. Buy this now! Album of the year for sure!
I heard Paloma's second single on the radio yesterday, and if I wasn't sold by the whirlwind that was Stone Cold Sober, the second single New York seals the deal! Comparisons have been made to other female singers around, but Paloma seems to have effortlessly carved herself a niche and will be around for years. With originality, drama and soul she pushes the boundaries with integrity, depth and pop sensibility. What I've heard and seen makes me think this one will be a classic!!
