this album is in my opinion, the natural successor to psycho circus. the production is similarly high standard but where Sonic Boom differs is in the accessibility of the tracks. you will love them in an instant. i don't believe repeat listens are required, you will fall in love with it straight away. the songs are guitar-driven, riff-orientated hard rock and the songwriting structures are simple and immediate. it is definitely an album for the car to play at high volumes. the only downside to this album is whilst it is a stronger album than Psycho Circus, its immediacy doesn't allow for as many listens - there isn't as much depth. i do believe though that any kiss fan will get off on it and there is much to like. at this moment in time, Sonic Boom is better than anything else around.
Been waiting years on a new album and was worth the wait ! One of the best albums they have made still having the old style vibe to it which any Kiss fan loves.....A must buy !!
its Kiss back to there best, gene is great and paul is himself, deffinatly a grower,
Absolutely lovin this! Yeah! You're in the palm of their hands after just the first listen. Great hooks, great lyrics. What more can i say?! Buy it!
At first listen i thought it just ok. But now ive heard it a few times its really grown on me.
Definatly a KISS album though - no mistaking their sound. They did not phone this in. Way way better than the last album Psycho Circus. Sounds much like their 70s stuff.
Not leaps out as an amazing track - but their is nothing that sticks out as been a load of rubbish either.
Lyrically the album is brilliant and Gene sounds the best he has ever sound vocally and well Paul is just Paul as always.
