With most albums, you always have to skip a few tracks, but with this there is no need. Much like their last album (Primary Colours), the whole album flows really well. Its incredibly atmospheric and stands apart from the soulless pop music that clogs the charts at the moment. The Horrors are only getting better and better with each album. Well worth a listen.
The horrors aren't the easiest band to pick up and listen to but they really are getting better and better with every album. Still life is a classic and the best track on the cd, but the whole album is full of excellent tracks and flows so well. You can really tell that the horrors work exceptionaly hard at putting their music together. 5 stars and looking forward to the next album
What a fantastic album. I love it and can't stop listening to it. What can I say - buy it!
The band from Southend-on-Sea done good! This album is worth a listen. What I get from it is a blowback to the 80's music scene and definitely a hint of Simple Minds or Human League, amongst others from that time. Atmospheric and kind of dreamy, The Horrors take you down a meandering path of reverb vocals and guitar with a simple but appropriate accompaniment on percussion. If it lacks anything it is the 'Hook' but then again this is not pop music and is much the better without it. Track 6 'Still Life' is the best of the bunch for me.
