The opening six tracks of this record are among the most consistently brilliant consecutive tracks I've heard in a long while. 'Careful' to 'Tchaparian'... quite simply phenomenal. The first half of the album is the undoubted highlight; laced with a colourful, beautifully flowing, infectious beat-driven sound, the only way is down for the latter part. There isn't necessarily a weak moment in the album, but the high standard set by the openers sets you up for more than you're given. But still...

I read the reviews and thought I'd give it a go - sounds like fun I thought. I'm afraid I have never felt this way about any of the 1200 or so CD's that I have bought in the past. I have a wide taste in bands and an appreciation of many different styles - my CD collection spanning 50 years of popular music. This album is easily among the worst I have ever heard!
I could not bear to listen to any track for more than 30 seconds and after the first 4 tracks I gave up completely. The whole thing is a mess, with electronic sounds chucked in at random. Just when you do get a good beat going, the vocalist comes in and spoils it - and as for the lyrics..........? Do yourselves a favour - listen to someone elses copy before you buy - it seems like a load of hype to me - these guys must be laughing all the way to The Elephant & Castle!

Stunning, classy, fun and dense.

Plenty of wicked tracks to chuck on as you dance about in your living room drinking, chasing and smoking before you go out and paint the town red...

Look After Me, Over and Over and The Warning are superb individuals.

even if you don't enjoy electronic-based music you should enjoy this album. it has everything from the pounding discotec tune of "boy from school" to the mellowed out "look after me" which is a real showcase of the vocal talents of the band, the harmonies are exceptional in places. having reached great popularity with hit singles such as "over and over" this band are definately one too watch. the highlight of the entire record being "(just like we) breakdown". highly recommended

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars A breath of fresh air.

I first heard of hot chip when I told a college of mine that I liked the song that was playing on the stereo at work. She told me it was hot chip and she had the album. She lent me it and im glad she did. Its nice to finally hear a band that sucks you in and makes you just want to dance. Its relaxing yet dancy at the same time. Hot chip are like Enter Shikari without the hardcore punk vibe or The Postal Service but more energised. Its the kind of album thats sutibal for all occasions. Want something to listen to at the gym with a great beat... choose hot chip. Want something to listen to on the train/walk/bus/car ride home .... choose hot chip. Want something to listen to when your getting ready for the night out choose... hot chip. Get the idea yet? Basically this album is very interesting and will keep you listening. It gets better after the first or second listen yet it is catchy from the first song. Pay extra attention to Colours. Its the most sensational song of the record.
