This review refers to Hail To The Thief (CD version).

This album is a slow grower ......2+2 and There There are instantly catchy tunes that stick in your head straight away. The overall quality of the album would have been improved if some of the weaker tracks had not been included ie. The Gloaming, We Suck Young Blood and Backdrifts. Still a worthy addition to anyone's Radiohead collection though!!!

Customer rating: 4 out of 5 stars Hail to the head!

This review refers to Hail To The Thief (CD version).

Although this album is a little inconsistent in places, it is definitely a really solid Radiohead album, and a return to the guitar driven tracks which is what they should mainly be about (but I do quite like Kid A and Amnesiac).

Some of the best tracks on here include "2+2=5" "There There" "Myxomatosis" "Sit Down Stand Up" "Scatterbrain" but the absolute best track is "Go To Sleep" which for me has got to rank as one of Radiohead's greatest songs with its powerful build up to the funky mid-section.

But there are some lesser songs here too "Punch up at a wedding" " We Suck Young Blood" and "The Gloaming" are all pretty dreary and plod on at such a drab pace you don't really care to listen to them.

But besides that it might not be there all time best album but its definitely worth a listen

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Superb

This review refers to Hail To The Thief (CD version).

After the acclaim aimed at 'In Rainbows' it would be easy to dismiss 'Hail...' as just another evolutionary step in Radiohead 'rediscovering their form'.

While 'In Rainbows' recalls 'OK Computer', it is something of a hotchpotch, albeit with moments of brilliance. 'Hail...' on the other hand is a more complete album, and one that is comfortable in its desolate, synthesized soundscape. Tracks such as 'Sit Down, Stand up', and the glorious 'Where I end and You begin' are some of the finest in Radiohead's history, and with the Yorke vocal-led ballads 'Sail to the moon', and 'I Will', the album achieves a real balance between the electronic and their customary melancholy sound.

If 'Kid A' could be seen as an oddity for fans only, and 'In Rainbows' a move back to their roots, 'Hail...' stands out as a superb album in its own right, perhaps for the first time since 'OK Computer'.
