I was a huge fan of the first album, and even though the industry and public didn't seem to warm to the second album I was a huge fan of that release too...

... However, I am pleased to say that I consider the Futureheads latest release to be an awe inspiring return to greatness. If you liked the fast pace, and unforgettable guitar riffs of the first album, and the quicker numbers from the second, this album will inspire you. From the opening bars of 'The Beginning of the Twist', to my personal favourite; ' Broke Up Time', it's certainly a return to what the Sunderland foursome do best. Quick, guitar led melodies, perfectly suited vocal harmonies, and a tightness that you don't see in a lot of recording bands.

This album has lived in my car since it was delivered, and even after sitting in traffic for over two hours with the album on repeat, I didn't find myself reaching for the next button once. I know it gets said a lot, but in my opinion, there isn't a bad track on the album.

I must say I think this is a big step up from "News and Tributes". I'm a big fan of the Futureheads since the earlys days of small gigs in Sunderland and I honestly think the lads are on to a winner with this sound.
I loved the first album (didn't we all?!) but I thought there were maybe 2 or 3 songs on it that didn't cut it like the rest did. The second album, although I actually enjoyed it, wasn't up to the same standard as the first. I can honestly say that I can't think of a single song on the new album that I would've left off.

If you've ever been a Futureheads fan, you MUST buy this album. If you aren't yet a Futurehads fan, you will be after you give this album a listen... Highly recommended!

This album is a triumph. Although I respect the fact that everyone has the right to their opinion I have to disagree with Sheppast's review. As we all know the 'Heads second album News & Tributes was a commercial failure and failed to catapult the band towards greater things which, let's be honest, was fully expected after such a great debut. So to come back with an album like this in the face of such adversity should be recognised and applauded. The songs may lack the "fun" element of the first album but the band have evolved since then. This set of songs are no less catchy and for me, they pack more of a punch. The Beginning of the Twist is probably the best track they have written and that it was the first single after all their problems highlights for me their attitude and determination to make it work whilst not sacrificing their ability to knock out killer tunes. Yes, fans of their original sound may be disappointed at first but give this album time and it will work it's way into your affections I promise you.

Love this album all songs are world class and a great buy. They should be live act of the year not bloody Take That or Boyzone, THE FUTUREHEADS!

sound perfection here from the heads of future, this album is everything i like...an upbeat fast tempo indie genre!! buy if ur human.

This sounds like an all out guns blazing return. If you loved the pace of the first lp and the quicker tunes from 'News And Tributes' then this albums up your street. I'm just glad they are back and not done over by the industry.:)

I think this album is going to be the best one let from The Futureheads with songs like The Beginning Of The Twist which I think is the best song they have ever done.!!!
