Meet Glen Campbell (CD version).
Following in the footsteps of Johnny Cash, Campbell has decided to cover some more modern songs in his own style.
The album kicks off with a version of Sing that is pretty much identical to Travis, and so for the most part is a pretty futile exercise. We also get a couple of Tom Petty tracks that are instantly forgettable; however, the rest of the album is pretty much as good as you can get. His covers of U2, Greenday, Foo Fighters and Lennon are interesting re-workings and for me sound better than the originals. It won't be for everyone, and if you don't like Glen's earlier stuff then you won't find anything here to make you feel differently - but if you fancy some easy listening with decent tunes then you'll definitely enjoy what's on offer.
