Loving 'Back to Black' I thought I'd give this first one a try. Not as immediately accessible as her second album - lacking the hooks that drag you in on a first listen. It's different too, in that it's more of an easy listen and less harsh than the second album. A jazz album - and again that voice is to die for. A much more relaxed album which showcases her vocal abilties beautifully. Cetainly an early one - no tattoos and no beehive! Whatever her personal demons, she is a woman of tremendous talent and her albums are destined to become classics. Don't expect another 'Back to Black', this is quite different, in my opinion not quite as good but in it's own unique way a good listen.
This is Amy Winehouse's debut cd onto the market and it was all we expected from Winehouse following her underground hype. I finally purchased it, and I have been so impressed so far. Her voice, reminicent of an ol skool Nina Simone is more than impressive. She is excellent and holds her weight with whatever track she sings. I think this is an excellent buy and introduction to what Amy Winehouse is about. If you like this then you would surely understand her second album
