Deserves to be #1 this Christmas!

This is yet another beautiful album from Enya, and one that just happens to theme nicely with the time of the year. The sound is typical Enya, so will appeal to existing fans, but within the theme it has a lot of variety to it.

Three tracks stand out as being instantly recognisable as Enya. "Trains and Winter Rains", "White is in the Winter Night" and "My Time Flies" are three tracks on the CD that are more "up beat" for want of better words, and if you like Enya, you'll like these for sure!

The rest of the tracks are more mellow and "Christmasy", but don't let that put you off. This is definitely an album better suited to winter and Christmas time, but there are songs on here that are suited to any time of the year.

Her new album has been a long time coming, having been delayed for almost a year after deciding to not just go with a generic Christmas-themed album originally planned. The extra year to write more original work has been well worth the wait, and if you like Enya, you owe it to yourself to add this to your collection.

I loved this album, every track great. I know some tracks sound familiar, but i really would not want them to change their sound drastically.

     Her best for a while

I truly believe that this is Enya's finest release for quite a while. It could be called a concept album in a way as it is themed around Winter and Christmas.I think that it works very well.

You do of course know just what you will get from Enya and in that sense it is predictable. But it is one of her most consistant albums. The up-tempo tracks work best for me with 'White Is In The Winter Night','Trains And Winter Rains' and 'My My Time Flies' the highlights.A couple of the slower tracks such as 'O Come O Come Emmanuel' and 'Spirit Of Christmas Past' sound as though they could have been sung in a cathedral and again work well.

This is a fine album and showcases a talented artist at the top of her game.

     gets better with time

I was initially a bit underwhelmed by this one.ive been a great enya fan from day one and will always buy whatever she releases, but given the large gaps between albums maybe i was expecting something as refreshing as 'a day without rain',however on a dark wet winters night driving back from oxford i put this on again in the car and it all made sense.this is an album for a moment, keep playing it and you'll know what i mean.i just wish we could have more, more often and how about a tour?!

In defence of 'And Winter Came'

Having just read a one star rating I thought I must leap to Enya's defence and say what a lovely album this is. It doesn't necessarily break new ground but some tracks are more uptempo than previous, most noticeably 'My My Time Flies' which is wonderful and check out the clever lyrics too. I do think this would have been a better lead track than 'Trains and Winter Rains' but I also love 'One Toy Soldier' and 'White is in The Winter Night' and have (so far!) held back playing the Christmas carols of 'O Come O Come Emmanuel' & the new 'Oiche Chiuim', waiting for December for that! Enya's music is classy stuff, very relaxing and with each play the album grows on me so 4 stars for now, maybe I'd rate it as 5 once Christmas is here!
