Status Quo's album "Pictures" (released in November 2008) celebrated 40 years of Status Quo filling the UK charts with hit after hit. The album was an instant success, charting at No.8 and selling over a quarter of a million copies in the UK alone. In July 2009 the Pictures live tour landed at Montreux in Switzerland as part of the world famous festival. The band, led as always by the twin Telecasters of Francis Rossi & Rick Parfitt, delivered a blistering set of hits and classic tracks from across their career including no less than 18 UK Top 20 hits. Huge screens behind the stage illustrated high points from Quo's career and the usually reserved Swiss crowd were rockin' all over the

As an avid Quo fan for over 30 years, it great to hear some of the really old and rarely played tracks, Matchstick Men, Is There A Better Way, In My Chair. Only slight downside is the crowd as it doesn't seem to be solely a Quo crowd. Documentary is entertaining and Live CD is a nice bonus, Book is a nice little read. Still a fantastic live band, some of the modern so called big stars could learn a lot from the mighty Quo! Keep on Rockin' Quo!
Even now, 40-plus years after they started, Status Quo are still the legs-apart, heads down rockers they've always been. The subdued Montreux crowd livens up by the middle of the concert, as Quo rip through classics like Caroline and Rockin All Over The World, as well as recent numbers like Beginning of the End and The Oriental. The CD catches all the best songs from the concert, so you can rock out in the car as well! The documentary DVD is, as stated, an extended version of the one shown on the Biography channel last year. It is very much extended, to the tune of probably more than half an hour, so whether you saw the one on Sky or not, it's worth watching this one. All in all 17 quid well spent. I'd recommend it to anyone!
If like me your a true Quo fan, or know somebody who is this is a must! Rossi and co really rock they have fantastic presence on stage and give concerts that are well worth watching. Just been voted must hard working band, well deserved!!
Having just seen Staus Quo in Brighton on their Pictures tour all I can say is 'wow' they know how to play great rock music and play far more than 4 chords, the songs are great and to many to mention, this DVD captures the band at their best and is the next best thing to being at the gig.
