- Interview With The Beatles
- Short Documentary About The Concert
On August 15, 1965, 56,000 fans came to celebrate the Beatles at the opening show for their third US tour. The first open air concert ever played at New York's Shea Stadium was attended by the largest concert audience recorded up to that time. Photographer Bob Whitaker described the state of emergency in NYC during the arrival of the Fab Four as follows: "The journey to Shea had to be organized like a military operation. We flew by helicopter from the top of the Pan-Am building in Manhattan and transferred to an armoured Wells Fargo truck near the stadium. It had no windows, and the kids were hammering on the outside and rocking it. The noise was deafening, the screaming and screeching was really terrifying. At one stage we thought the truck was going to tip over and we were all going to get dragged out and torn to pieces". Promoter Sid Bernstein remembers: "I guess we didn't care too much about sound trouble. You couldn't hear much of what the Beatles were singing anyway, because the kids were screaming their lungs out all the way. There was incredible screeching all over when emotions went haywire. It was all about taking part! This was a historic moment for the kids and for all of us who were involved with the show. To be there meant to be a part of history".Apart from the live recording, this DVD contains a documentary film about the concert and an interview with the Beatles about their impressions of that extraordinary event.

It's blurry, washed-out, out-of synch, there's no menu, it's repetetive. I'm sure when I saw it on the BBC years ago it was much better than this.
DO NOT BUY
