Wasn't expecting much from it but it's really good all of the main actors play a really good role espically eijah wood who plays matt buckner and it's got a really good twist at the end of it will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish but be warned there is a really sad and nasty bit towards the end of the film for those who haven't seen it .
This is a great film and I really did enjoy it. The fights, the friendships and the comical typical London comments make this film great.
Two things annoyed me though about this film.
The first is that the head of the West Ham firm is played by an American and if that not the worst impression of a London accent then I don't know what is. Considering the fact that you 95% of the cast are English and the film is set in London, im baffled that they cast an American to play the lead role?!?!?!
The second thing is it is pretty similar to football Factory the only difference being Football Factory is a better film.
Worth buying though!!!
This really comes across as a shoddy attempt to get in on the success of the far superior Football Factory. Injecting an American point of view doesn't really help either, and I found Elijah Wood's 'transformation' in to a hooligan quite hard to believe. Give it a go if it's on the telly, but don't bother paying for it.
Green Street provides a thought provoking look at football hooliganism in terms of why its has such a strong appeal and the devastating consequences it can have. There will always be those who say Elijah Wood was miscast and unconvincing as a converted hooligan but that was the point. His character was a timid American who eventually toughened up even thought it went against the grain of his personality.
Some of the accents were awkward but overall the acting was good and touched on the fact that there are plenty of hooligans who hold down professional jobs but enjoy the close knit feel tht being ina Firm brings and the andraline rush of football day and the scraps that go with it. When taken to extremes the consequences on peoples lives can be devestating as this film poigantly shows.
this is the best football film ever and is alot better than football factory with a much better storyline and much better action scenes. In truth, the film opens your eyes about football violence and is compelling right until the end. A must see and even better, a must buy!
