Top 10 PC Reviewer

I received this last week and i can say its a pretty decent little netbook.

One of the first things I noticed is the matte screen which is bright and sharp which is perfect for viewing outside (instead of the ever popular gloss screens) .

On a similar note, the carbon fiber finish on this netbook is great, looks slick while not attracting those horrible fingerprints that most of the gloss finishes on similar models seem to do.

The keyboard, while small, is comfortable and very easy to type on and took no time at all to get used to. The Touchpad is multitouch so has 2 finger scrolling and pinch zoom on web pages etc...

The web cam is decent quality, works well in lower light conditions and comes with an application that can apply a bunch of "effects" to the webcam output.

The battery seems to last for a decent amount of time and recharging is very quick.

Windows 7 Starter performs well on the 1GB RAM provided, but if you want that extra boost, i would recommend buying yourself a 2GB stick. Changing it is easy, only requiring a small panel on the underside of the laptop to be unscrewed.

Overall a great bit of kit for the money,

First Ill start with a warning check your Play.com Asus 1001P battery as its advertised as a 6cell but in fact i received a 3cell they are resolving this as i speak.

I have always liked the Asus notebooks since i setup 30 Asus 1005HA but I decided not to get one then I setup 16 of the Asus 1001P during the week to a school network and was very pleased with there speed and spec the only thing i would recommend is removing the 1gb of ram (DDR2 SODIMM) and replace with a 2gb card.

As such I looked for one for myself. It runs Windows 7 pro very well and it will be replacing my Sony laptop. The hard drive is more than big enough to cover all your mobile needs and its weight makes it perfect to travel with. 3USB ports and a VGA out so it covers most of your normal needs. Should you want a cd drive you can always plug in an external drive but as most people use memory sticks to transfer data or simply download what they need from the web i dont think that youll miss it.

The Keyboard is of a good size it does bounce a bit in the middle but i havent met a notebook that doesnt. The screen is of a good size to see most web pages If your worried about it not being big enough it does have a handy zoom in on the touch pad just like using an Apple iPhone.

The Wireless works well, Ive had no issues connecting to many different wireless networks.

When running windows all tasks perform well there is no lag or waiting around for things to open.

I feel Its important to point out you shouldnt compare notebooks to laptops just as you shouldnt compare laptops to computers. They are different items.

Over all the Asus 1001P is well constructed and will be more than enough to run everyday tasks.

I appologise for no punctuation but your not allowed to use Invalid Characters......

Great product, more than ample for general surfing and geneal net use. It plays 720p movies without a problem and has enough storage space for general purpose computing. Fab little machine!

 For the price,,unbeatable!!

I have been playing with my new Eee for a couple of hours now and overall i am really pleased with it. it looks very nice with its carbon fibre look and feel and is actually alot lighter than i thought it would be. the screen is really nice and crisp and the keyboard is netbook perfection.
everything opens and closes quickly and overall the whole system feels really snappy with w7 pro installed over the w7 stater that comes installed with it.
So far i have only noticed a couple of things i dont really like. the charging cord is a little shorter than i would like and the fan is much louder than i expected. but these are trivial issues i will grow to ignore. overall i think you will be hard pressed to find a better netbook for the price. Grab one while you can!
