Seagate Expansion 1TB External USB 2.0 Desktop Hard Drive

Ok what you have here is a pre formated in NTFS (for files larger that 4gb) hardrive.
In the box is the drive, USB and power pack with euro connection as a wee bonus.
the drive is a 7400 rpm, this does not mean a thing as it is a USB drive so it is limited to the spead of USB but the seagate 7400 drives a well knowen for qulaity and I bet the drive in the box is a normal drive but with the usb electronics. Great so the drive is a high quality drive!
So far a few hours into loading music and video on it has yet to get to a heat that I feel is too much. It is infact a great drive for having very little sound. Very very slight hum so ideal for video backup as it keeps on streaming all the time.
Great drive, plug n play and plenty of room for this reason.
If u buy a 1TB(internal) drive for 65 quid you need to fit it, format it(takes hours) and if any problems crop up with this have to mess about with it.
not with this, great value and essental for back up of photos and music that can be irreplaceable.

Incredulous to all the reviews posted, my experience of this bulky thing is different: the USB cable plug at the back of the machine simply fell off on the inside of the casing. This is sadly how i found out that the casing cannot be opened without breaking the device! So not only the plug was stupidly poorly fixed (i didn't mistreat the drive) with a bit of glue directly onto the circuit board, so off course wore out within a year, but the absurd casing prevented data retrieval or repair. And given you can't have your money back if you alter the product with most refund departments, this is not so much of a back-up device as a one-stop data-loss centre for all your household needs! So, should you be foolish enough to be lured by the low price, remember that there is a reason for it, and don't move the drive about, don't unplug the USB cable and keep it glued to your desktop and connected at all time. This has been a waste of a year's worth of data.

If I wrote the review 3 months ago it would have got 5 stars but the usb fell off 3 days ago and I can't access any files. Company I left it into said it was the 4th one they'd got in the last week with the same problem so make sure your files are backed up somewhere else as well.

Please think carefully before buying one of these drives.
There is a common problem with this make of drive. It develops a loud clicking sound then performs slowly and eventually will die. Many of these are being replaced by Seagate but it seems the replacements are also doing the same.
I would urge people to seriously reconsider if thinking of buying one of these. Sadly, I will never buy anything from Seagate again.

I purchased one of these and as other people have found eventually they start clicking resulting in the drive damaging itself, the problem is in the power adapter not been man enough to power the drive, i swapped mine when it first starting clicking with an old WDBook PSU and i havent had any problems since

Its a good product but should be supplied with a better Power Adapter
