Single Files over 4GB - FAT32 vs NTFS

Not bad at all for 17 quid.. Had problems at first with it being formated in FAT32 direct from the factory. but this was fixed with a little tinkering.. Fisrtly it wouldn't format to NTFS which supports single files beyond the 4gb cap of FAT32 it was caused by the policies being s et to fast removal, just by changing them to performance it allowed me to format it in NTFS after which I returned it to optimised for quick removal. Best way to do that is goto the DESKTOP then right click on MY COMPUTER selecting "properties" from the dropdown menu, HARDWARE Tab , DEVICE MANAGER button, In device manger select DISK DRIVES by clicking the + next to it.. If you have the drive plugged in it will be listed there.. You need to then right click on the USB drive and select "Properties" from the dropdown menu , POLICIES Tab , Click the box for "Optimize for performance". This will allow you to format it to NTFS allowing larger files to be transfared to the drive.. You do this by now going to my computer right clicking on the USB drive and selecting "FORMAT" from the drop down menu select NTFS, click format and once it has finnished formating you're done. You may want to go back through the earlier steps and turn the "Optimized for quick removal" back on it's for the best as in performance mode you can get currupt of lost data if anthying happens e.g. powercut or somebody removing it without safely removing it through windows first.. Hope this is helpfull to someone out there..

4 Stars would of been 5 stars if not for the trouble of formatting it to NTFS.

 Tiny!

I just received this Flash drive from another vendor, I couldn't believe how small it was, its length is only 4cm! the USB connector is made of plastic which does bend a little but im sure with proper care this wont cause an issue, the keyring hole is thick and robust so OK to use with keys (which i don't), its not the fastest drive around but its o for general use. I used Flash Memory Toolkit util to do some read/write tests and the max i got were, Read: 16546 KB/s, Write: 3252 KB/s. Hope this helps!

Good build quality, small.. but may be too slow for some ppl

This is around the 6th USB memory stick I've owned and it is great in its own ways.

Build quality is faultless.. it seems really good to me for a drive this price. The metal and plastic is blended in nicely.. and the size is the smallest I've ever had. 10/10

When it comes to performance.. it's a strange one. The write speed is about 4MB/s (my last cheapo drive did 8MB/s!!) which for most is fine... but if you're constantly filling it with 15GB of data.. that'll take you an hour each time. 5/10

The read speed averages at about 28MB/s which is great.. but for the first 160MB it crawls along at about 16MB/s.. before shooting up. 8/10

Overall I'd give it 8/10.. it's great value but really slow if you're constantly writing tons of data to it. If you're just going to put bits on at a time.. its fine.

 Perfect for 360

Got this flash drive for use with my Xbox 360 after reading about it being very good for this purpose. I have found it works perfectly and have noticed no slow down in game saving speeds compared to the old hard drive. You will receive a message saying that this drive may perform slowly for 360, however this is a built in design by microsoft to tempt you to buy the official drives at double the price. The official drives are NO faster but won't give you the warning message, which only appears the first time you use the drive anyway.

 No Redeeming Features

Cheap, plasticky rubbish, the kind of quality you'd find in a christmas cracker.

I have to say that I was rather horrified at the buld quality of this thing - OK, yes it's fairly cheap, but it is also very flimsy too, and won't last long. After just 2-3 uses, the plastic plug part of the drive had visible signs of wear, the plastic casing has become creaky.

The Cruzer is extremely slow at writing, pulling a whole 5MB/sec, which is next to useless. Reading is ok at just over 30mb/sec.

It's the build quality of this product that is the shocker for me though.
