I got this for my msi netbook which runs windows7 starter edition. I plugged it in with lead supplied it detected it straight away. I have watched a dvd on it playback is fine as yet i have not used it for burning discs (which i will be doing soon ) for now i will give it a 4 star rating because of the lead which is supplied is too short i have tested it burning discs it does a good job, however it's best to stick to good discs for this drive
