Top 100 PC Reviewer

I bought this headset because I use a laptop with a less than satisfactory built in microphone. Since I've owned Plantronics headsets before, I know what to expect and this headset ticks all the boxes for me. Its lightweight, stirdy and the ear pads cover my ears creating an oasis of sound even my wife's yells can't penetrate. Also, in a slight departure from the norm with the inline volume and mute controls previously used, the volume controls are nicely positioned on the left earpiece whilst the microphone mutes and unmutes itself when raised or lowered from its cradled position making it ideal for skyping and other voice applications like dictation. On to the multimedia side, the headphones give out clear full rich audio with a dynamic base response which depends on the music your listening to, though I'm rather disappointed that you can't adjust base and tone controls as you could on previous models. Overall though, this is a perfectly satisfactory, light, compact and stylish headset for people looking to enhance their communications and aquire a high quality pair of cans whilst they're at it. The price is neither too high nor too low and Plantronics have once again prooved that when it comes to headsets for computers at any rate, they are king of the jungle.

 Truly Fantastic!

well, there's not much to say really. First time I plugged it in it worked straight off like it said. The frequency response is great. The bass especially is pretty damn good but it also has the crisp higher frequencies.
Microphone is noise free and no problems with it yet. records vocals and piano pretty well for the price.
I think the only drawback would be that after a while it can start to hurt your ears because it holds them down quite tightly.

Overall though this is a top rate product and I'd recommend it to anybody. Truly value for money, must have headset!

 You must have small ears!!!

To what the guy has wrote above! Either you got the worlds smallest ears OR!! This headset is not an over the ear headset, it's a squash the ears headset!! Write Reviews In Honestly Next Time, Just bought these now I'm unhappy, not with product, but for your review telling me these go over the ears...

 Not Noise Cancelling

What sold me on this headset was the "Noise Cancelling" feature because I needed it for live commentary & podcasts, but be warned that the newer 655's have a poor noise reduction DSP.
All those great reviews and videos I've watched are from the older model, which has red inlays and mic boom tip and used C-Media's highly praised CM108AH chip.
Newer models (like this) come with blue inlays, a black boom tip, and the cheaper Conexant CX20562-15Z "SPoC".

The Mic: picks up the sqeaks of my chair, the clicks of my mouse and the sound of the TV in the next room. While it does pick up clear sound, anyone on skype will also hear everything thats going on behind you as well as a slight hissing noise.
Any voice recording will need the background noise removed probably also amplified in something like Audacity.

The sound: is fantastic though, its perfect for listening to music and gaming. No hissing, just crystal clear audio playback.

Overall, it's definitely not a bad headset, and while it does feel tight to wear in the early days, it became extremely comfy after a week.
I personally wont be returning it, but I could have just kept my old headphones and spent the money on a stand alone microphone which did have noise cancelling.
