4 A nasty trap in the packagingEricBaker | 04/01/2014 | See all EricBaker's reviews (3)I have used Kaspersky on our PC and laptop for years and rate it very highly indeed. It lets us do everything we want - eg synchronise data via the router - with no fuss and keeps the nasties at bay. I always buy a new version each year because Kaspersky price their online renewals so high. This time I left it to expiry day then installed this version. But activation was refused with no reason given. So I got in touch with Kaspersky support and had to install free security software as a stopgap - Avast and Personal Firewall. It took Kaspersky support 13 days - admittedly across Xmas and New Year - to come back, saying the activation code was for Android only. I investigated and found the whole thing was a package design error by Kaspersky. They'd hidden the real activation code under a piece of paper which had the wrong - Android - one. Neither code said what it was for. And because I've installed KIS so often there was no way I was going to dig down through all the documentation. With such a delay I had been wondering if the KIS 2013 I had bought might be counterfeit but it installed fine once I had discovered the well hidden real activation code. Shame on you Kaspersky for bad package design and very slow support. I probably won't even use the Android part of the deal. We have 4 Android devices - not just two - and Avast free seems to keep them perfectly safe. And I would never do online banking on a phone or tablet.
