 slingbox solo

i had a slingbox solo from play together with the slinglink as my router is far from my tv setup. I had it connected and streaming tv around the house in no time with very good picture quality. stream runs between 2.5 to 4.5mb producing very good image.

the UPnP wasn't recognised by the software so i had to manually open a port which is no big deal and then i could watch tv from any remote location with wifi or vIa 3g on your mobile . streams at around 400kb remotely with a perfectly watchable image.

My only gripe and is that i bought an svideo scart subsequently to improve quality further but the image comes across in black and white so i had to revert to composite. Subsequently i found out this is a fault with the sky boxes and not with the slingbox All in all an excellent product which allows me to watch sky when im at work or abroad

Vey pleased

 A Truly Fantastic Product

The SlingBox Solo gets everything right, from good looks to simple physical setup and simple software setup. It took only minutes to hook up and now I can watch my Sky+ box on my mobile phone wherever there's 3g or HSDPA coverage. Incredible technology that takes a simple idea and makes it into a user friendly product polished to a level of perfection that contends with Apple.

Even the box is pretty!

The only issue I could find with the SlingBox Solo is the fact it can only support one viewer at a time, this is for legal and technical reasons so is forgivable but still a shame. Also a more expensive model equipped with WIFI would be nice but Sling Media seem intent on explaining away WIFI as unsuitable and trying to sell customers their Sling Link solution.

Suffice to say, if you can't run a network cable to your TV then it's going to cost you an extra £60 to get it connected to your network. But if you can it's a fantastic product that really does deliver exactly what it says on the tin.

Excellent but having BThome Hub Router problems

It's like magic especially for a non techy guy like me.
Only problem I have is that when installing the softtware online it asks me to manually set up the connection from the slingbox to the router - I have followed the steps and opened a port (if thats the right expression) to 5001 etc. but still not working away from home and thats the whole point - im not totally giving up yet and will ring customer support tonight and see if they can talk me through it - if anyone else has this trouble or can assist in the meantime any advice would be most welcome - once this is overcome it will truly be a joy to behold!
