Netgear XETB1001 85 MBit/s Powerline Homeplug Network Adapters Kit

My PS3 was dropping the wireless connection, and the Bluetooth headset was garbled when online gaming.
This solved it, and then some.
This is so simple to use it's a breath of fresh air.
Plug 1 in near your router, and 1 next to whatever you're networking, click in the network cables and you're done.
Online gaming perfomance is great (I timed the login and universe retreival time differences on Killzone2), and I now get crystal clear headset traffic, thanks to the extra oomph- note, PS3 only does wireless b and g, so speed over wireless at 54Mbps is the best you'll get with a PS3. No no point buying a wireless N router thinking it will help, get this set instead.
Note - yes, the XETB1001 is the set with 2 units in the box! (one for the router, one for whatever you're networking).
You can buy the XET1001 units if you want other points...
Note also that the recommendation is that you need to plug directly into a socket for best performance, and not into a power strip / spike protection strip, but I tested mine on such, and it was still OK, though I do as the guidelines recommend as socket availability is not an issue.

I had been searching for a way to connect my Apple Mac Pro to the internet as it had not come with an Airport card.

I came across the 1001's and ordered the kit. It was a simple 5 minutes to set up; 1 in the router, 1 into the Mac and seconds later, the Mac was online.

I had read that there were possible issues with Apple Macs, however I have used it both my tower and my laptop with perfect results. No compatibility issues at all. Simply plug and play.

There are no wireless connectivity issues as whatever is plugged into the adapters are connected via the power lines and not via the wireless network.

What is even better is that after contacting Netgear, they have told me that multiple adapters can be connected to computers around the house while only having one adapter in the router. Ill be getting another kit and plugging my PS3 in too!

All in all a perfect solution in my opinion.

In summary:

Excellent product if you require a network connection faster then wireless, and your router is not within easy cabling distance.

In my case the router is upstairs and the PS3 downstairs, these devices improved the video streaming for film demos via the Playstation Store, and speeded up my online download time for gaming.

As mentioned in previous reviews, set up time was within minutes, they really are plug and play.

I have used them all around the house to test them in different sockets with zero issues

Got this based on the other reviews on here & what a waste of money, got it for my ps3 cuz the connection was crappy & with this it makes no difference what so ever, all my pcs & other consoles are fine but even with this im only gettin 2 bars signal on COD. & only gettin 1 - 3 mb d/l speed, where with wireless i was gettin anywhere from 10 - 40 mb
