Few things you must take into account when buying:

1) Check it has the correct fitting, there are many different sorts so it may be worth checking your manual.

2) Always buy pairs. DDR memory will only work in pairs of the same speed. Eg, if you intend to upgrade to have an extra Gb of RAM, buy 2 512 mb sticks, not a single 1 Gb. Failure to do so will result in improper functionality of your machine.

If in doubt use the Crucial Memory checker on their website. This will give you the correct advice as to what memory you should purchase and also the maximum your machine will handle in each slot.

1GB RAM for less than £35. You've got to be wary, eh?

However, PLAY.com appear to have a keen returns policy on faulty / doa stock, so I took a punt and bought two of these sticks for my home G5 Mac.

No problem - the acid test for both Windoze and Mac systems is if they boot up after new RAM sticks have been installed.

I then ran a diagnostic utility on the memory hardware, which reported "no problems".

The final test was to run two RAM hungry apps - Photoshop and FCP - to see if they would fall over. I'm happy to report that both behaved as they should and FCP was noticeably quicker when rendering.

A while ago i got 1 of these and it was good.
I recently brought 3 more of these. When i got them they looked totally diffrent. only 1 of these work, 1 only gives me 0.75gb and the other dont work.
the first one i broght cost me £14.99 and i think it was better quality.
Just a warning.

if like me you have a desktop which isnt a particuarly expensive one this ram is great,my pc got very slow when running a couple of different apps but now its great. bargain

put a pair of these in my Dell dimension 3000, 3 yrs old and previously with 512mb ram, two of these bad boys took it to the 2gb limit, and wow, what a diffreence, specially on design software!!!!!
