     Excellent Security Suite

Please ignore the review below about the issues with the Rootkit Scan - this problem was promptly fixed by an update ages ago. ANY security program that has it's claws deeply inside your OS is likely to have the odd niggle from time to time, but the Kaspersky forum is an excellent place to peruse if you're having problems with experts always on hand to advise and assist.

I was a long time user of Norton products, but after having several instances where they let malware in unexpectedly, I moved to Kaspersky and haven't looked back since. An excellent AV and Firewall product that works fine on all 6 of our household PC's (XP, Vista and Windows 7) with the minimum of fuss.

Don't let one disgruntled (and out of date) reviewer put you off, this is really about the best you can get for home use.

Currently the best Anti-Virus/Firewall package on the market

So I've been duped by McAfee into buying their rotten security software for the past two years now. McAfee 'Total Protection' is an expensive, mediocre, and power consuming piece of software. I wouldn't have minded its voracious RAM and processing consumption had it kept my PC safe from harm.

After finally getting up off my backside to shop around, I decided to invest in Kaspersky's Internet Suite 2010. It easily lives up to the acclaim. It has a very light footprint which means even one of my antiquated PC's runs smoothly and efficiently whilst Kaspersky does its job in the background, and believe me, it does its job well. Its firewall scored 96% on Matousec's stringent 'Proactive Security Challenge', while its anti-virus came runner-up (second only to Bit Defender due to a higher price tag) on 'Antivirus Software Review'. And so far it has not let me down.

The only minor drawbacks are that the virus database updates seem to take an age to download, and full system scans really eat up processing power. Other than that top marks.

best protection not a problem with it!!!

After having had McAfee on my PC for a few years and constantly having to deal with spyware and viruses I eventually began searching for new anti virus software. I found Kapersky internet security and I have never looked back. In the 2 years I've had this installed I have had not one virus, spyware or trojan affect my PC in any way.
Combine with Mozilla Firefox as your browser and you're safe from most nasty software.
As resources go, I've not had a problem at all. I find the gamer mode very useful as it stops updates and notification pop ups when you use a full screen application.
Also Kapersky updates almost daily so you dont get any single huge update once a month which is great if you dont have a good internet connection.
The interface is simple and easy to use, but with plenty of optional settings for the advanced user.
You cannot go wrong with this software.
I will most definatly be renewing my license at the end of 2010.

KIS 2010 Honestly is a bad product

Until mid October 2009 Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 was running reasonably well (although slower than usual). Then there was an update from Kaspersky. It has made my PC slow down enormously. Take a look in the Kaspersky forum and check for yourself. I would advise caution before using this product. I am no longer. I have switched back to KIS 2009.

The rootkit scan takes literally hours to finish its scan (each and every day!) The user has no control over this 'feature' and had to put up with it or use a variety of hacks to get around it. Do your research, read the Kasperky forum. I would advise EXTREME caution before using this product.
