Bought it to whack a drive into to Time Machine my Mac Book Pro. What do you get in the package? Two flimsy bits of plastic and an ill fitting circuit board that you have to fit yourself. When you plug in a hard drive it flits in and out of 'working' such that disk utility takes about an hour to format. Spend a fiver more and get something worthwhile - this is crap.
dropped my spare SATA hdd in it and now i got a portable drive. well worth 6.99.
bought this to make use of a spare 80gb HDD from broken laptop. put that in within a few mins. very easy to set up for anybody who can use a screwdriver!
works perfectly with my laptop (vista), PC (Windows7), WDTV, xbox and PS3.
two annoying things are:
-when i turn off my WDTV the drive stays powered unlike some of the WD passport drives.
-takes very long to format (drive was 60% full of junk that had to be cleared) and the speeds aren't great (probably my laptop's USB controller, my bro newer PC is much faster so this could be hit or miss)
all in all a great product for 7 quid! makes great use of a spare 2.5" HDD or to use a PS3 HDD that has been replaced!
well worth it! :)
Got one of these to transfer all data from laptop HDD to new computer, cheap but cheerful and given my needs was fine, will use it in future as an external drive when i fill up computer.
Had no problems in vista or xp recognising it, plug and play in 10 seconds. Also it took about a minute to drop HDD in and screw it up. Only one USB cable too, unlike some that have a double headed one.
Overall a decent product, no complaints and would buy another if needed :)
