Hitachi SimpleDrive 1TB 3.5 inch External USB Hard Drive

Just got this from Play in the Summer Sale. £69.99 for 1tb seemed like great value for this much storage. When I got the drive out of the box i was impressed with the quality and build of the unit itself and the design was very modern/contemporary. Transfer rates of data are impressive and the software worked well. I have the drive laid flat but you can have it vertical using the included stand. All in all well pleased and cant see me needing another hard drive for a long time, if atall. Cheers Play

Very quite, had to put my ears right next to the drive to hear it hum.
Very easy to install. plug it in and done.
Not sure about the heat, just got it and plug it in. I can't imagine it's any hotter than any other brands. It's nice.

got a blue screen system crash when i tried to use usb turbo as i dont have usb2.0 im only on usb1.1 had to turn turbo off wrks fine now
created 3 partitions wbfs ntfs and fat 32 all work great.
for 70 quid is a great price

when i first inserted the drive it didnt show up and recognised. i went to the computer management, it showed as unrecognised HDD. then i created a new partition on NTFS. then i t worked. it was bit triccky for novice. but working fine. transfer seems to be bit slow also start up as well.

The downside of the Hitachi HDD is that it needs a AC adapter to work, and it's not described on the listing so i purchased it thinking "HDD without AC adapter..? Brilliant!" but when i recieved it i saw the AC adapter in it and was disappointed, but overall when i used it and store my TV series, i loved it, cool flashing white light, extremely silent (bit of noise when turning on but it's gone after 3 sec), slim and sleek save a lot of space and looks cool next to my TV and elite 360. I was disappointed but the goodness of this product killed the disappointment and my overall rating of this product is 8.5/10!
