Belkin F5D4076UK Powerline HD 1Gbps Gigabit Homeplug Network Kit

Fed up with my wireless PS3 and 360 connections being knocked out every time the baby monitor or microwave were turned on, I took the plunge and purchased these little beauties 2 weeks ago. I was extremely doubtful that they'd work as promised, but they did - and then some! Set up was simple. Plug one into a wall socket near your router, plug the included ethernet between them, and switch on the Homeplug. Then do the same with the other Homeplug your device. Within seconds (literally) a solid connection was established. Much faster than wireless and without the tendancy to drop. I even connected both PS3 and 360 to one Homeplug by using a network switch (not included) and it works fine. Only downside is that, for best performance, you need to plug into a wall socket, rather than an extension lead. Inconvenient, sure, but I'm not complaining. Thoroughly recommended.

Arrived this morning and i initially purchased this kit because I was suffering with high latency problems while playing Quake Live and other games across my wireless network.

Going the PowerLine route was the only way of getting rid of that latency problem, and I am glad I did.

These devices work within seconds of you plugging them in and you really do get the full speed and i have connected a switch to one of the plugs and there have been no problems.

I purchased these wanting to increase the network throughput performance between my home office and family room (30 feet distance) and avoid any lag when streaming Flac files from my home server (in office) and LINN Digital Streamer (family room). I already own a pair of Netgear HomePlug and they work fine however, If I am streaming music and downloading data at same time I was getting intermittent and very short gaps of lag. So I decided to buy a pair of Belkin Powerline HD to resolve this. Guess what...they not only had difficultites linking up between two rooms, but they had a very poor transmission rate (10-16MB/s), which is half of what I was getting with my Netgear Home Plug AV devices. Furthermore, I was not able to upgrade the firmware....despite following the direction given on Belkin support site.

Bottom line, if you intend to span more than one room then avoid these at all costs. If you intend to use them within same room, then get a long ethernet cable and avoid these at all costs. In case your wondering, I live in a relatively new flat, on one floor so not complex environment at all.

I purchased this pair to replace my WIFI signal to by sony bdp570 so I could watch Iplayer in HQ without the stutter and lag. Within 30 seconds these where up and running - ITS REALLY that simple plug in the wall use the cable provided to conect the plug to the router, then the other end use the second cable provided, to plug into the nearest socket to your device and Bingo - Stutter free online content on my telly even with the microwave running...
