So laptop, bad name, as putting your expensive machine there is going to make it overheat, fast.
So what to do. Microsoft Fan.
You can have it flat across your lap, or turn it 90 degrees and have the fan in the gap of your legs.
If on a surface there is a drop out leg to angle keyboard and allow more air underneath.
Running of USB with a cable that can reach any USB socket you have free, using min battery.
Very quiet, but not silent (what fan is) this will help reduce the heat on your machine, which is usually what kills them fastest.
Bought one for each machine, and recommended to friends

Brilliant product. The fan is very quiet and consumes very little battery power. It is also strong enough to keep it very cool and i have had no problems with it over heating as before the base of my laptop got too hot to touch. A must get for laptops that get hot.

I gifted it to my uncle and he liked it.
Pros:
1) Silent fan
2) Less battery consumption
3) Easy to carry and handle.
4) classically shaped for ventialtion.
Cons:-
I have not come across so far but this is targetted for moderate heating laptop. So , if your laptop heats up terribly in few minutes, you may opt for more number of fans but that eats up your laptop battery. So be careful while choosing.
