Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000 Webcam

I bought this webcam as an upgrade from my old one as it repeatedly froze when I used it.
This one has never froze on me, the picture is really good quality, and videos are good as well, with voice synced in (the webcam includes a built-in microphone) and no problems that I have found yet, though I have heard that some people have experienced problems with voice sync, so maybe I was lucky, or more likely its just a conflict or something on their end.
It's quite fun to use on MSN/Live Messenger, due to the little effects you can use. While on cam to a friend, I chose to put a picture of a dog in the corner of the screen then waited for him to realise.
His reaction was insane and hilarious!
Doing that randomly and watching their face makes webcam conversations much more fun.
The face tracking is a bit strange, it doesn't so much track my face as randomnly zoom in and out on it, so I guess at least that means it knows where my face is, but doesn't really follow it.
So if you thought it means that the webcam physically moves to track your face, it doesn't.
Another good feature is the the stand is a sort of clip as well, so for people like me who have flat screen monitors, it can be fixed on top of it with no risk of it falling, while still being perfectly flexible to rotate and tilt up and down.
The digital zoom is brilliant, and makes it really easy to focus on a certain thing without having to actually move your webcam. Though when using it online, it can become incredibly slow, as sort of lag problems make you have to repeated click the zoom in/out button, though it's not a big problem.
You can also change brightness, contrast, colour saturation, and can switch to black and white mode as well many other little things to make sure you are getting the best quality picture you can get.

This is a brilliant piece of kit. Superb sound and picture quality. It even has silly little extras installed with it, different frames and moving icons will appear in your chat window. All in, a must buy at a reasonable price.

I bought this web cam ages ago very same one, so I am very familiar with it, I payed 60 pounds for mines so this is a great price, with this web cam like someone else says you can bring random things up like the beach, flowers, drum kit, guitar, a space ship that flys about and loads other images, my web cam has fallen several times too so this cam is reasonabl sturdy as well.
Onced you have this installed on your pc you can also click on the icon and use it offline as well and record videos as well, which are saved as WMV files in a folder called lifecam files on your PC...and you can also take still images with his cam..
I may sound very technichal but I am not, this cam is so easy to use and understand, and it stands on a circular base which opens and makes the thing easy to attach onto your PC monitor...along with my Ipod this web cam is one of the best things I ever bought..you wont be disapointed..but like al webcams remeber to twist teh round part rounbd the lense to give you a clearer image..I I just saw this on here and decided to write a review on it as I have had mines for a long time and used it a lot..its also great for makeing videos on....as its very clear..and you can upload them to youtube..and very handy device.
Oh and yes I have to mention the low light setting in the properties settings..is also very good coz if you are in a room and the lights are dimmed you can actually use this setting so its easier for people to see you with out turning up the lights.

This is definitely a good webcam.

The webcam base folds out so it sits nicely on the top of your TFT monitor or have it just sit on your desk, picture is great and detail is excellent.

If you want a good webcam, not too pricey but that will do you for any kind of online chat, this is the cam for you!

PROS:
Good quality, robust and adjustable
Adjustable focus
Face focus (If you turn this mode on, the camera zooms in on your face. I don't use it personally but you decide if it's good or not.)
Spec effects. (You can have a ladybird crawling all over the lens or my personal favorite, lightning rippling around everywhere so you look like Zeus!)

CONS:
Button on top for calls. - For me this is just pointless as you have to reach over to it. What would you rather do, use your mouse to click send webcam or take your hand off the mouse and push the button which then brings up a menu which you select who you want to webcam with? I'm sure this is good for some people but for me it's just annoying when i'm setting it up and accidentally press it. Again, you decide.

Anyway folks, good product and I absolutely reccomend. 9.8/10
