  decent and cheap

just what i was looking for a cheap 16gb memorystick i could backup all my computers music and pictures on, the only teeny tiny problem i had which i think would of made it a 5 star would be that theres no hole to attach it to my keys.

  Perfect for large data transfers

This flash drive is brilliant, I use it to transfer a lot of data between computers (fixing them and things) and it hasn't failed after a lot of use. Would definitely buy again, and it's a lot cheaper than any other memory sticks out there.

It's a bit on the chunky side, but it's reliable and moderately fast.

  16GB - The correct way

Before formatting = 16GB - Give or take a few bytes. its 16GB.

After formatting = 14.9GB lower or higher depending on format method used. I would suggest using ExFat (FAT64 - no bloated down with permissions like NTFS, and, no filesize cap within the next 5 years :P).
NTFS as a last resort should you need to save files over 3-4GB.

The terminology behind what defines 16GB is irrelevant if the user has formatted the device before checking it :P

This thing is excellent, honestly, and especially for the price..
Simple design with a flashing red light, and 16GB of pure memory for the taking. Had this for well over a year, dropping it many a time, and it's never failed me once. Perfect for transferring files for school, and films, music and saves to my PS3 and netbook.
It's rare to find such quality at this price. :D

  Good value

Good value for money and worked very well until... it didn't. Could no longer access the drive after only 2 months of infrequent use. The 2 year warranty paid off though as Play.com was good enough to send me a replacement.

  OK, but that's all

This was the cheapest 16GB (14.9 formatted) USB drive, although not hugely cheaper than the rest.

It does what it says in the ad, and no more - it stores the correct amount of data. Visually it is not ugly to look at, although slightly cheap would not be an unfair description. It also needs to go on a diet as it is rather broad around the middle causing difficulty when another USB product has to be used in an adjoining slot.

Its biggest drawback/letdown is that it is slow, and I mean S L O W.

Given the choice, I would now pay a little more and buy a better class product, but then who is to say that the alternative will be any better?

  Poor connection & speed.

I had another 16gb play.com flash drive, it was the old design and it performed much better. This one constantly has connection problems (none of my other flash drives suffer with the same issue) and the read/write speeds are unbelievably sluggish.

Judging by the other reviews on here I would assume mine is a one off, or maybe my PC hates it. Who knows. Anyway after 2 months of usage I've had enough, time to spend more for a better performing drive.
