Ordered a few days ago and received this morning. I was initially impressed by the packaging and quality look of the dock to start with, and that's why it get's two stars. When it came to connecting to my MacBook Pro, running 10.6.2, there was nothing to be impressed about. Notice that the description states that it supports Mac OS 10.3 and above.
I have a 500GB hard drive containing two partitions. One being my Time Machine back up, the other as external storage. When I plug the hard drive in, 9 times out of 10 nothing will happen. Unplugging the device and plugging back in, or taking the hard drive out and re-connecting it sometimes sparks it to life and it shows up on my mac, but is painfully slow! The two partitions on the drive show up one at a time, about a minute apart! The card reader and USB ports only work when the dock makes a connection to the computer.
I ruled out faultiness of the dock because I connected it to my brothers laptop, running Windows 7, and it connected straight away, every time.... including the USB ports and the card reader.
Another annoyance is that the instructions explain very little other than "Insert SATA Hard drive, connect to power supply, connect USB 2.0 cable".
In summary, I would be more than happy with this drive, even giving it 5 stars, if I had a windows machine only. But I have a Mac, and for a device to claim compatibility and then let down like this is just not right.
