  Great little thing

Runs mpegs and avi's fine, didn't like mp4s. Came with an AV cable which was handy as I needed this for my old skool TV. Picture quality is good, would probably be better if I had an HDMI TV. Is also a good image viewer and music player. The remote is small and a bit hard to read the text on it, is very particular you have to aim it exactly. Very happy with this, saves watching films on my laptop while in bed :)

Plays only mpeg and avi files video files. There is no firmware update anywhere for this product, remote is small, fiddly and difficult to read.
Very restrictive media player. Item comes from Switzerland and took 6 working days to arrive.

after buying this i thought this would solve all my issues how wrong was i. it dont play MKV, MP4, MP4v files, it can play AVI's but only some AVI files as some of the AVI files i tried playing either cut off half way through or just cut off 3 seconds into the movie.

not happy at all. but im willing to give the Cyclone Micro 2 a go as ive only just discoverd there was a micro 2

Doesnt play files through to completion

A good piece of kit when its working. My problem is that it doesn't play files through to completion. An mpg will play for about 30 minutes and and AVI will play for just over an hour and it wont even play MPEG4 format even though it states it will on the box and literature. I know the files are good since playing them directly from the HDD, they all play through to completion, the problem is that they are displayed too small on the screen. Has anybody else had a similar problem?

Good...but buy its bigger and better brother!

I was looking at buying a media player a few months ago, and after toying between this one and the slightly dearer mk 2 version, I went for this one.....within a week I was buying the mk2. Dont get me wrong, this is good, its just that the mk2 is much much better in every way..the remote is better and more responsive, its plays all types of files (which this one doesn't), the menu screens are much better etc etc. My advise is save yourself some money and just go for the dearer version 1st time, its only a tenner more!!

  Works okay

As previously stated in a review this would not work on my plasma Panasonic Tv via HDMI lead but only by RCA cables (which are supplied) and does NOT support MP4 format. All in all a good product as most of my films etc.., are in AVI format anyway.

Good - but a few problems

A great device once you get it too work

Good News
- picture is amazing, menus good

Bad News
- sound does not work with a HDMI connection to Plasma Panasonic sets (can be re-routed through surround sound if you have it).

- WD Passport 550G is not recognised by it

-remote is tiny and black with blue text - so impossible to see if you have dimmed lights

All in all worth a buy for the quality of the upscaled picture produced

  Great for the price, but...

Have been using this religiously for 6 months now, and plays NEARLY everything (some files it will struggle with and just not play)...

Fantastic, until the battery in the rubbish little remote dies, after which it's useless!

Also, the remote seems to be running on the same frequency as my LG LCD tv, so whenever i turn the volume down on the LG remote, it ends up quitting the video i'm playing!

  Surfers Beware!

Ok this is good for what it does & the upscaling is cool BUT it doesnt play "just about every file" you might have as some reviewers have suggested. Its limited to avi based files only as it says in the description, divx (avi), xvid (avi), mpeg 1/2/4(mpg,avi). So if you have anything else such as mp4 (like I have) which is fairly common these days then you're out of luck. Ive got a drive with many different. file types & only the avi's appear on the menu once plugged in. Everything else like mp4 or wmv is a no show so tho its very good at what it does & id definately recommend it just be ready cos you might have to convert sum files before you see em on the big screen.
