Top 100 PC Reviewer

I needed a laptop to replace my broken Toshiba and couldn't resist the specs on this one!

I was a little worried at first as I'd looked at Acer's when buying my Tosh a few years ago and they were a bit flimsy, but I have to say their build quality has improved 100% since then. Obviously if portability is important to you, don't buy this as it's big and heavy, but if you're not going to move it much, then it's great.

The 4gb of ram makes it nice and fast and it has a decent size HD. The large screen is excellent with a bright, crisp display which is perfect for watching Blu-ray movies. I hadn't experienced Blu-ray before, but was blown away by how good it is.

The mousepad is large and responsive and the buttons have a nice firm click and the keyboard is one of the best I've ever typed on.

As was mentioned in the other review, the charger does get hot, so just be aware and keep it well ventilated. I haven't upgraged to Windows 7 yet, but probably will in the next couple of weeks, but so far it's running Vista really well. So if you need a new laptop then you would have to go a long way to find one as good as this for the money!

Good Buy Just A Few Things That Stop Me From Giving 5 Star

I'll Keep This Short Very Good Laptop Blu-Rays Look Fantastic On The Huge Screen, Also Using The HDMI Port To Hook It Up To Your T.V. Is Pretty Awesome Got That Working Great, Only Things That Bring It Down A Star Is The Fact You Have To Wait 2 Weeks For The Windows 7 Upgrade Kit To Arrive And That The Charger Gets Worryingly Hot If Not Kept On a Hard Cool Surface, Basically If You Like To Sit In Bed With Your Laptop Its Going To Get Warm! But Apart From That Its A Great Buy! Deffo Go For It, Good For Casual Gaming Too!

 Mobile Desktop

Had this for a month now.Although I bought it when the price was 449.00. So really pleased i got it before this price hike.Good Clear Screen but highly reflective so you may have difficulty reading it outside,Something i have not tried yet.I generally use this as a mobile desktop rather than a fully mobile laptop as A) it's large,B) heavy,C) large power draw. You could get around 3 hrs in full power save mode, but thats about the best you could achieve.4) Screen flex is a bit worrying and the keyboard also flexes when you type on it.Yes the Machine generates some heat so don't block the vent ducts near the CPU.The Power Block also generates a fair bit of heat.Regarding an upgrade from Vista to windows 7.Firstly the upgrade disk could have been bough for 12.50 from the Acer Website. However this upgrade option was only valid for machines bought before 31st Jan. So that route is no longer valid for new purchases.Regarding drivers for Windows 7.I see that recently Acer has put a full set for windows 7 for download on its web site so i assume that Blue Ray under windows 7 should not be a problem.I am still using it under Vista as everything is currently running as sweet as a nut.Oh by the way.You can play windows games on it at low res.For the record i am playing Batman Arkam asylum at the default screen res of 1440x900 at low settings and am getting a just playable 17 FPS on it using new Nvidia Drivers i picked up on the Nvidia web site. All in all for 450-500 with the spec and a blue ray drive built in and despite the few critical comments above i still consider this machine is still a bargain.I hope these comments Help you all.

 Decent Buy

This is a decent laptop. 4GB RAM means everything runs very fast. The Blue-Ray player works great, and gives a fantastic view. Built in fingerprint reader means you dont require to remember passwords for areas that require a password, making it much quicker then trying to remember 1 of the hundreds of passwords i use. The biggest problem though of this which is why it is not 5 stars. Is the heating issue, as in the other 2 reviews, the battery can get very hot, so i would reccomend also buying a cooling tray for it to sit on, to prevent it getting so hot. Other wise, this is a great buy and at a great price for other comparable laptop.

Great specs on this machine beautiful clear screen. You can upgrade to windows 7 if you want 12.50 I haven't bothered. For this price you can't ask for better specs. It's easy to use and great to look at. The power supply does get a touch warm so put the charger on the floor not on the bed or Sofa it's not rocket science guys!!!!
