its a core i7 very powerfull needing a powerfull fan this is top of the range laptop buy it if you want quality
The new SONY's appear to suffer from very loud cooling fans that run at full power from startup. So if you are expecting a quiet laptop you will not get it. The UK versions are also missing the backlit keyboard found in the US versions. Why is the UK always the poorboy in SONY's world. Plenty of power, yes, but that Fan! Come on SONY listen to your customers.
Only have this laptop 1 day but it is excellent, very large 16.4 inch screen, exceptionally quiet considering how powerful it is, super fast, top of the range laptop!
I have this laptop for 2 weeks now and wanted a laptop that was future proof. Although there are newer versions with 740qm the difference is only speed which at 13ghz is hardly noticeable. I prefer glossy screen however the matte display is very bright with sharp clear images and is the best matte display I have used. The laptop is effortless in operation scoring 5.8 in windows base index with hard drive being lowest score at 5.8 which could be upgraded. I will metion the fan as it is discussed elsewhere only when the laptop is playing demanding games is the fan noticeable but no more noticeable then my toshiba laptop which had lower dual core processor and gpu. I compared this laptop with similar spec running GTA and the graphics are noticeably smoother on this with nvidea 330 compared to Nvidea 425. Maybe this has something to do with 8gb RAM available on this machine allowing the 330 to use 4Gb or possibly a driver issue which has been reported on some of the newer Nvidea 4 series. What lets this laptop down is the inbuilt speakers there is no depth or bass and is not as good as my old toshiba with harmon Kardon speakers hence 4 stars. Dolby v3 makes little difference you need to connect to external speakers or audio. Overall fast performer with smooth graphics and very bright screen with quiet blu ray just slightly let down by speaker sound
