this review is in no way reflects on play.com's excellent customer service support but is a negative review Of Buffalo's hardware and customer support.
I bought this unit to play Blu-ray 3-D's fire and Nvidia 3-D vision 120 Hz Acer monitor connected to a brand spanking i7 dual GPU Nvidia sli USB 3.0 all singing and dancing machine. With the Buffalo Blu-ray writer drive connected my PC with blue screen on restart so I had to plug it every time so would start correctly.
But for the price I paid the most negative aspect of my experience was being told by a Buffalo technical support representative that even though the box stated this hardware with its bundled cyber link power DVD nine software was ready to play 3-D Blu-ray movies that I would have to pay another 80 pounds to cyber link to upgrade to be able to do that very feature I bought this for!
Tech support also had the affront to tell me that my PC was to new or up-to-date to be able to get the Blu-ray 3-D functionality working with this external drive!
Thank goodness for play.com excellent customer service who were happy to refund once they realised trouble I had with Buffalo.
I have now bought a Plextor USB 3.0 external Blu-ray 3-D drive which is much cheaper (and up to now none of the hardware and software problems) and comes with the later version of cyber link power DVD, version 10.
Needless to say I will never buy a Buffalo product ever again as a company that doesn't train its customer support, front facing employees to treat the paying public in a recession of all times as their bread-and-butter doesn't deserve to have my cash. But I will continue to shop with play.com.
