Bought this simply because of the size of it and the cheap price.
Why do people always moan about the actual formatted size with these sticks? jonbluestone complains that he only gets 29.9GB but it clearly states in the tech specs that that is what you will get, give or take 0.1GB.
Read the tech specs and you would know that in advance....

Excellent product, as expected.

However, while it's nice that jonbluestone is trying to alert the world to The Great Storage Conspiracy of 2011, not only is this not Play's fault but it's also not an issue as pretty much all storage devices marketed today have their sizes advertised in this manner.

When marketing a product the SI units KB, MB, GB, etc are used. This means that 1KB is considered to be 1000 bytes, however, computers treat 1KB as 1024 bytes (the unit in this case is actually KiB), and so the actual size is lower than what's claimed. This is technically not a lie, albeit incredibly annoying, but then again, when are marketing tactics not annoying?

Furthermore, if you look at the Technical Specification of the product it even says "Formatted capacity (30GB)".

Pretty chuffed with these; had previously ordered several faulty/fake memory sticks (including 4 from eBuyer!) but these work perfectly with about 12.5mb/sec transfer rate on USB2. They also have an internal blue LED. I echo the comments left in previous review, the capacity is just under 30GB, not too shabby though.

Just an update. Actually it is not missing 2GB. The conversion is like this. 1GB=1024MB (and not 1000MB, which is taken for easy calculation). This continues till you reach bytes. So 29.9GB is 29.9x1024x1024x1024 bytes....

32gig is handy for me for storing windows 7 hdd image in case i want to revert it back to when i first got it. transfer speeds averaged 10.4 MB/second which is normal for usb flash drives. It comes formatted in fat32 so only takes seconds to quick format in windows to ntfs. Reports as 28.8gb.
