Ordered this from Play.com and it arrived well-packaged and in good condition. It's a lot smaller (in physical dimensions) than I was expecting. The 1TB size loses a little of its shine when Windows has it as 930GB, but even that's enough for most people, including me.
In terms of hardware, it seems to work fine, and is reasonably well made. It has a 2 year guarantee from Buffalo, which may be cold comfort when you've just lost 1TB's-worth of data, but if you back up regularly it's reassuring.
The only niggle I have is with the "TurboCopy" and "TurboPC" utilities that come bundled with it. They seemed to disable Windows Autoplay for all devices plugged into the USB socket used for the Buffalo drive. Windows Media Player couldn't see the music files on my MP3 player and it took me ages to work out that disabling TurboCopy restored that functionality. You can use the Buffalo drive without TurboCopy (it just takes longer to copy things to/from the external drive), so I'd recommend installing the software, copying all your large files across to the drive, and then disabling it. You need to be logged in as an administrator to do that.
Incidentally, you only get the sexy blue LED lighting up with USB3.0. With USB2 you get a green light that's more socks 'n' sandals than sexy :)
