  Great little item

Had mine for nearly a year now, and never any problems with the little drive. It's been around the world and been used most days, though still going strong. Want to get a further one...... but the price used to be 66 pounds in autumn last year..........

Good Hardware, Slightly Flaky Software Utilities

| | See all CelticFringe's reviews (3)

Ordered this from Play.com and it arrived well-packaged and in good condition. It's a lot smaller (in physical dimensions) than I was expecting. The 1TB size loses a little of its shine when Windows has it as 930GB, but even that's enough for most people, including me.

In terms of hardware, it seems to work fine, and is reasonably well made. It has a 2 year guarantee from Buffalo, which may be cold comfort when you've just lost 1TB's-worth of data, but if you back up regularly it's reassuring.

The only niggle I have is with the "TurboCopy" and "TurboPC" utilities that come bundled with it. They seemed to disable Windows Autoplay for all devices plugged into the USB socket used for the Buffalo drive. Windows Media Player couldn't see the music files on my MP3 player and it took me ages to work out that disabling TurboCopy restored that functionality. You can use the Buffalo drive without TurboCopy (it just takes longer to copy things to/from the external drive), so I'd recommend installing the software, copying all your large files across to the drive, and then disabling it. You need to be logged in as an administrator to do that.

Incidentally, you only get the sexy blue LED lighting up with USB3.0. With USB2 you get a green light that's more socks 'n' sandals than sexy :)

I bought this for 60 pounds September 2011 for my son. We've had no problems with it. It was a bargain then as it's gone up by 30 pounds!
Small and sleek. I would buy again if it was cheaper.

  Massive, small, trendy and classy

| | See all Sambofett's reviews (9)

Massive, small, trendy and classy.... and when on offer an absolute bargain, I have a few of the 500GB versions and have to manage all my folders to utilise them better, now with a massive TB I can worry less for longer.
I am not technically minded but can say that these are;
reliable
easily reconiseable by my PS3 and TV
very fast at transferring large amounts of data
tendy blue lights
gorgeous gloss black
compact
DEFINATELY BUY IT

  Superb for India

I bought this for a photography trip to India - offloaded hundreds of RAW files throughout a month - this little wonder dealt with it perfectly. I'm also glad I bought when I did - it's now 30 quid more than I paid at 96 quid!

Best possitioned LED on an external I've ever had, usual possitioned usb but this is well thought out as this saves snagging the cables, the usb cable is perfect length for netbooks and use with the xbox 360 this is a match made in heaven, hopefuly my second order will turn up soon. Other than that I would highly recommend this drive best 1tb!

  Excellent portable.

I have been using this for about 6 weeks for university and its small enough to fit in your pocket, and manages to create a very low amount of noise whilst being powered by a USB port.

The price has gone up by quite a lot since i bought this but still highly recommend it.

I recently bought this item and am very impressed with it so far, excellent product for the price. I have also connected it to my wireless router and so now the information is available to all computers, ps etc wirelessly - perfect!
Would definitely buy again.

  Great, fast, small, cute!

It is little and cute. I stored all my current stuff and I have still so much space left! It is so small that it is easy to carry with me (the case I bought for it is so big in comparison, pity... I wonder if they sell smaller cases). I received it within a few days from ordering, and it copies everything quite quickly. If I need extra space in the future, I will go for this hard drive again!
