 Great for the Money

You need to consider 2 things before you buy this -

1) Is the prestige of owning an iPad important to you? Do you want the Apple designer label attached to your tablet?

2) What will you use if for?

If the answer to question 1 is NO then you have come to the right place. What this tablet lacks in street cred, it makes up with in capability and price.

If the answer to question 2 is that you will use it for browsing, downloading apps, email, FB etc. then you have found your tablet.

In a nutshell - a good tablet that's great fun to play with at an amazing price. The only downer is the tiny memory - easily rectified by buying a micro SD card (great value right here at PLAY). I have no regrets buying this ace tablet.

Really Rather Good For The Money

I dont normally write reviews but I bought this based on the 5* customer reviews on this site after considering many budget tablets. After seeing someone give it 1* I thought I had better redress the balance.

For the money this tablet is amazing........ its no iPad2 though and it must have taken me 2 weeks of fiddling around to get it how I wanted, it is a little frustrating to start with and comes very much barebones out of the box, but once I have downloaded the apps I want, replaced the stock internet browser etc it really is very good.

If an iPad costs 399 quid, I would say if you take away the apple name and kudos its probably 250 quids worth or kit whereas this is 140 quids worth. In other words the ipad is better but by 110 and not 259! In fact you could buy 3 of these for the same amount.

The 10.1 capacitive touch screen is very responsive and I would say it is about as good as any I have used. The bad review above obviously got a faulty unit. I would say that when it originally arrived it had a kind of slightly sticky sheen to the screen which once worn-off or buffed-off it started to work very well........ another reason why you need to give it some time, and like other reviewers have said you will grow to really like it.

A couple of things you need to consider when deciding to buy this tablet, which I didnt realise at the time:

- it doesnt support flash player (but it does html 5 so some video content works)
- BBC iplayer wont work because of the above
- Youtube does work though

You need to change the browser to Dolphin HD as the stock browser is clunky.

Another thing to note is it doesnt support the official android market but Getjar does a reasonable job and you can download other .apk files (the executable file type used by android tablets) from other sources if you know where to look.

Other have said that getjar is restricted (and its not as good as the official android market) but hidden in there is a real gem..... the getjar 'gold' apps.... these are FREE apps that you have to pay for anywhere else and I have downloaded loads of apps for free that would have cost me money via android market.

So to conclude, this is a very worthwhile tablet with a good quality screen (touch and actual visual quality) for the money. It plays loads of different codecs and the battery is good for a decent 6-8 hours in use or 3 or so days on standby .You're not getting an iPad or a Galaxy tab but for this you would pay 3 times as much.

 DO NOT BUY

 A Great Tablet

| | See all Barronboy's reviews (34)

This tablet is absolutely fantastic, they are much cheaper than the bigger brands such as the Apple Ipad's and will probably do the same things.
It's easy and simple to use for nearly enough all ages.
I would recommend this to everyone that is looking for a brand new Tablet that is this size for cheap.

Definitely One Of The Best Purchases I've Made.

Good value for money after initial hiccup

| | See all tanglespanda's reviews (1)

Initially the keyboard did not work properly on this product which was very frustrating for my son whose birthday present it was. The helpdesk took 3 days to respond by which time we were ready to return it to Play. In case this happens to anyone else the solution is to "reset the factory defaults" and this is found in the "privacy" part of "settings".

Once this initial hiccup was overcome I have been impressed with the product. Obviously you get what you pay for, but for the price it does everything we need it to and there are more than enough free apps available through Netjar to keep a 16 year old happy for now.
