  USB Connection Dodgy

| | See all njwest's reviews (1)

It is a very good price for a 1TB portable HDD, but the USB connection is very dodgy. Sometimes the connection will randomly drop (resulting in disk was not ejected properly message), so one has to remove and re-insert the USB. Another issue is that the USB connector does not properly fit in most ports, it is very tight (and not in the fun way!) so one has to use more force than one would be comfortable with.

It is cheap, but not worth saving 20 pounds to get this over a higher quality alternative.

  over-sensitive USB connection

Working OK but the connection is very sensitive. If I so much as touch any of the wires while it's in use I get the "disc not ejected properly" message and all my Finder windows drop out. Quite a serious limitation for a portable hard drive, which by its very nature you won't always be using on your office desk.

  Ok to start with

Bought 2 of these as they were on an offer, they were working fine, then both started to click (apparently a known problem with Seagate Externals). 1 still works, they other I had to buy a new enclosure/case for so I could still use the hard drive. When, they start clicking it's time to put the HD into another enclosure, which shouldn't be the case after spending a fare bit on this kit.
