A reliable stick, has lasted well. But doesn't vibrate for me at all. The stick is over big that makes the buttons a struggle to locate in the heat of battle. The rudder seems slow, and is separate from the stick so chopper flying is made much more difficult. Operating the rudder can also cause accidental use of throttle and movement of whole unit if not bolted down.Unless you have three hands you cannot operate stick,rudder/throttle, and buttons at the same time - play offense or defense but not both together. I am now back to mouse & Kb for BF3 and looking for a stick twister.Overall does what it says it does, but not to my liking.
my black widow joystick has arrived today, its really good.it took more time to get it out of the box than to install it. i tried on fsx (flight simulator x) and it works perfectly the joystick and the speed lever have very nice solid feel to them, the only downside to the joystick is that the base is quite light and when pulling the joystick back suddenly it sometimes topples over but thats only a tiny problem compared to how good this is. ireally recommend you buy this as its such a great price compared to big brands like saitek. o ye and the parcel arrived in 3 days which was great. GOOD LUCK.
My first flight stick as it were and it is really well made considering the cost. Only downside is that at first it was crashing my Flight Simulator (2004 admittedly!!). However, I turned off the feedback option from within the game itself and the stick works a charm. Well worth it, especially if you're on a budget, but you might be having to check settings if you get rumble issues... Buy it!!
I had this for Christmas and it is a great improvement on the simple stick I was using. Initaially I found it too sensitive but after downloading a later driver from the maker's website and using the controller for a time I am very, very satisfied with it. What I particularly like is the throttle control which makes landing such a satisfying experience. Also the rudder controls on the front of the throttle means that you can disengage the Autoco-ordinate and keeping the aircraft on the runway with high crosswinds during takeoffs do not tip the aircraft sideways.
All in all, despite some limitations (for the price) a great product.
This is my first joystick I have bought, I decided to get it because of the great reviews. The stick handles well and it feels very comfortable when i wrap my hand around it. The buttons are well placed, looks great and the throttle is smooth. Only thing I don't like is the rudder control, it's a bit uncomfortable but it works.
So far I have quickly tested this joystick on Lock On, ARMA and Battlefield 2. It works fine on Lock On and ARMA, but I'm currently having problem making the controller work on Battlfield 2.
I bought my father one of these for christmas as it seemed pretty sturdy and good value, however we have not been able to get the vibration feature working at all. Im not sure if its a compatability issue since Microsoft dont feature any speedlink joysticks in their compatability list for flight sim X and we have seen otherinstances of people having the same problem. Were currently on our second one since we thought the first was malfunctioning but this second one is the same so were going to exchange it for a saitek or similar which we know work completely.
A shame really since the build is good and the buttons are firm, and it is a good price. However there are issues.
I wanted to try flight sim and decieded to buy this as my first stick, and it works great, the stick, throtle and rudder controls work straight out of the box and the buttons on the base can be assigned for flaps and trim, as I've got more in to it I have paired it with a Nostromo speedpad, (this required quite a bit of configuration) and it works brilliantly. I haven't tried it in a combat flight sim but it seems to have a wide movement range so should react well to being bashed around. If you are going to try out flight sim then for £18 get this one, there are cheaper sticks out there, but having a big throttle control and solid rudder control (rather than having to turn the stick) make the experience that much more satisfing. That said if you are experienced and want a more professional rig, then look at spending that bit more.
