This is an absolutely superb laptop! I got one for my birthday exactly a year ago and it it was about £100 more expensive than it is now! Vista Home Premium is very nice if you haven't used it before. My only two complaints are these:
The speakers aren't great. I tend to use earphones if I'm listening to music and the sound's not great for watching DVD's using the speaker.
It could do with an extra 1GB of RAM. Vista uses at least half of the standard 1GB RAM just to run, so it can slow down quite a lot at times. I've just been looking around for an extra 1GB of RAM, hopefully this should speed it up a bit.

On the whole an amazing laptop, well worth the money!

Well I have to agree this really does represent quite exceptional value for money, had mine for about a month now and am very pleased. The start-up disks another review mentioned can be made using the vaio software that comes with the machine (requires 2 blank dvds). The only slight criticisms I have with this laptop are it could use a little speeding up (upgraded mine to 2gb of memory and works much quicker) and that the speakers are a little quiet and sound rather tinny. On the whole though get 1 if you can because the sell out fast.

Great, but ugh, where is it?

Ive noticed this laptop and everything seems great, ive done alot of footwork to save you the bother and im pretty sure you wont get a better laptop for the price, play is the cheapest for it.

SO ive been saving my money to buy this laptop for uni, only to find that the "buy" button is missing. PLEASE PLAY bring it back for sale!

A must buy for the price

I ordered this laptop for my other halfs birthday, it arrived within 4 days, well packaged Vista already loaded, easy to get started even for a novice. I shopped around for a few weeks comparing laptops on Which etc. This Laptop without a doubt is a best buy for the price, second on the list was a Leonovo 3000 N100(Formally IBM) and although the Lenovo had a couple of other gadgets(like a finger print reader for security to log into the Laptop) it was pretty much match for match exect for the price which was around £650. Its perfect for internet access and general playing around, with the built in graphics card you can pretty much play any mid spec game if thats you thing, but for word processing, art, graphics etc. you won't get anything better for the price, trust me. at £479 delivered I went to Curry's & P.C world they were selling for £499 in Curry's and wouldn't even sell me one in PC world they only had a slightly newer version for £599 the only difference was the processor which had less MHZ(speed) there was also no stock in any stores, this will give you a clue that this laptop is popular to the masses, what more confirmation do you need. The Laptop also looks good and has a nice size screen(Thats the other half talking)

  Great Laptop

After passing my exams i was given £500 to spend on a laptop and i am glad i chose this one. its fast and the screen is great. the only problem i have with it is the speakers as they dont go as loud as i would want them too, However this is easly fixed by pluging it into external speakers. The laptop is also by far the best I found for the price and i dought you will find anywhere selling it for less than Play.com. So if you want a decent laptop for all the basics and you aren't to botherd about volume then I would definatly go for this one.

  Go for it

Well what can i say, ive been hunting for a new laptop for a coupleof months but i was looking around and the costs were steep for what they were. Im sure you may know the feeling.
Well i went for this laptop on the basis that pc world was trying to sell it for £150 more.
I have this laptop and its spectacular, very fast, great lcd screen.
And some very good pre-installed programs. ie norton internet secruity, microsoft works (lastest edition), also a 80 day trial of the microsoft office 2007.
So if you want a good laptop at a smaller price than most shops, go for it. Cause this laptop is great.
Also i havent had to use it myself but my friend assured me that if you need technical support, in the (unlikely) event , Play.com provides excellent support.

What can i say.... but for the money this notebook is outstanding, yes there are bugs, but most notebooks will experience it for time to time, but you can forgive it. For the positives do most certainly out way the bad. eg:
GOOD:
Build quality
appearance
screen quality
ergonomics
performance regards to processor!
BAD:
non responsive programs
battery 1.30hrs
installing certain programs (Vista rejects... WHY BILL?

Anyway you won't be disappointed after all it's a Sony, that speaks for its self!

  Good system overall

| | See all Trubster's reviews (1)

This system is overall very good, it has a quick startup time and excellent graphics with the x-black LCD Screen. It has a Windows Vista System Rating of 3.0 and it runs aero 3d well. The battery is not excellent but you can get about 1 hour with wifi and max performance, or no wifi and full power saving lasts 2.5 hours.
