Magnificent, and yes i am using such a word to describe an external hard drive. Great product, made a copy of all 20+GB of my files in exactly 23 minutes. I know what you're thinking, he timed how long it took, and you'd be right.

A must buy for those looking to back-up files, better to be safe then sorry, get one now so you don't have to worry about losing all your files by one way or another, (theft, virus etc.)

in response to the above reviews the hyard drive loses 18gb due to the way they are made and marketed 232gb is correct 8 bit in a byte etc and so on this is why, hard drive maker market then as 250,000,00 byte which is 232gb.

I went for this hard drive as it was in my budget and had some good reviews. It's a great hard drive dont get me wrong, it took about a minute to set up and works great. But i was a little annoyed to find out on my computer that it only holds 232GB instead of the full 250GB. I can understand if there is some memory already used up like most hard drives, but i think 18gb is a little steep!

Like all the other 5* review said, well its true. Backed every single file within' 15 minutes - well recommended.

The product is exactly what I wanted. I was looking for an external hard drive to store all my photos on. So I did not need loads of space, however when I saw the product I noticed how much space it had for my budget of £60. Play.com soon had it in the post and it arrived in no time at all. When I plug it in it ran quietly and I soon had all my photos on it. It is still working well and I have only taken up 2GB's!

i read the reviews for this hard drive and went on the good recommendations it recieved mine was delivered today 28th feb my vista desktop reconised it straight away it was so easy to set up its a nice size a good black finish matches my computer tower very very quite i transfered 2500 songs loads of photos within 15 minutes very quick transfer like the rest of the reviews very impressive hard drive just hope it lasts as ive read loads of reviews on these extrnal hard drives and they dont seem to last long but so far 5 out of 5 only registered with play.com a month and allready bought 5 items from them keep up the fantastic work

i was on the market to find a suitable HDD for my laptop and i came across this little beauty. just about got my order in before the price went slightly up (£49.99) and it is great. windows vista picked it up as soon as i plugged it in and was able to start sending my big music collection over in seconds.

i was also amazed by the quickness of file transfers that this offers, music abulms are transferred in about a minute depending on file size so you are not waiting around for long hours. the handy off/on switch as described in the other reviews is a handy way of turning off without all the mumbo-jumbo of having to find your socket to unplug the thing and the size means that you can take it anywhere inside the laptop bag instead of having to leave without it because of it being so big.

i also have to agree with the other reviews to say that this is the quietest HDD on the market (even quieter than the HDD on my laptop!!) and this is reflected in the current stock shortage of this item, too much demand for this great product.

all in all, for the price of 52.99 you get so much value for your money!! well done play.com for bringing this to our world. remember, buy it now while it is still available!!!

Great value for this product and no postage to pay. I had it unpacked and installed in a few minutes which XP PRO picked up immediately.It runs very smoothly and quiet and nice to have an on/off switch on the unit. Ive bought a few things from Play.com and reccommend them Highly.

Looks good, sounds good (i.e. very very quiet) and easy to set up. Only glitch I had was the cd with the manual on had a chip in it so was unusable but i contacted Freecom customer support and within one working day they e-mailed me the pdf of the manual. Now, just got to hope it keeps working ok as from other similar product reviews it looks like these external drives can be temperamental.

I paid £129.99 for this from Argos in June last year. If you're looking for some extra storage space via USB then you could certainly do a lot worse than this product.
