Another excellent product from Freecom just plug and go, but if you need a drive without external power try Freecom Mobile Drive XXS 160GB External USB2.0 Hard Drive which is also excellent buit slightly slower transfer ( hardly noticable)

Haven't brought this item yet but look into buying, does the external hard drive need to be plugged into a mains plug socket or does it gain it's power from a USB port? I need one for college and a mains plug is not always available, so preferably I wouldn't want a mains plug in one...

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars easy peasy

Top 10 PC Reviewer

It's fast and copying a large amount of data, for example 30gb will take up to 15 minutes which is very fast because 4.5gb takes up to an hour and half on a memory stick. and that's the sandisk ready boost micro memory stick, one of the fastest memory sticks money can buy. So it's incredibly fast at copying large amount of data.

I recommend this product for web developers who need to backup websites. I used to backup my websites on 4.7gb dvd RW disk and if a website exceeds over the limit of 4.7gb I can not save them on disk, which was a nightmare if you spent months building a website that if anything goes wrong you had no backup because it exceeded the memory of 4gb and most websites will take up to at least 6gb of memory, not only that if your designing many websites, having to save each of your websites on individual disks is not very efficient as you'll end up with many disks that can be lost or stolen.

So this was the solution to the problem, whether you have a laptop or desktop PC this will just sit there on your desk, save your websites on your PC as normal then back them up using this External Hardrive, and with 500gb of memory it will last you a lifetime. Bascially this Hardrive is designed to sit there on your desk, for when you need it but you can put it back in it's box if you use it with your laptop like I do.

It's also useful for home use too, if you want to back up everything on your pc or you want to transfer all the files from your old pc to your new pc. This can be easily done with this Hardrive, so even if you don't need one. You can keep it for safe keeping, cos I can assure you it will come in handy.

It's very useful for I.T professionals and for home use. Installs very nicely on Windows XP Professional, all though it's capatible with Vista I can not tell you that it will install properly on Vista, all though I would of thought it will because it's such an excellent Hardrive and for £60 makes it even better.

PS3 - I don't think it works with the PS3 because it does not install with the Xbox 360 so I would not buy it for that purpose, unless you are 100% sure it does.

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BUY IT TO USE WITH THE XBOX 360, IT IS NOT CAPATIBLE WITH THE XBOX 360. I know this because I have tried it.

For the price, it is absolutely quality. Great brand, i wouldn't waste that extra £20 for a western, everything you need is rite here. Best that you know it's only actually 460GB but im sure you could already work that out, most HDD are less. Runs smoothly, no problems with the function, just plug it in and your away, its nice and small to, kinda lite, but thats not really a factor, if you don't worry about carrying around wires then its a good portable external. Definitely worth it looks nice too. A great buy, i recommend it.
